This is a special episode as I’ll be sharing the mic with Grace Wickerson. She is an incredibly talented person, she’s 22 and doing a PhD in engineering but more importantly, she’s incredibly active in the social justice and equity space. Today, Grace will be sharing her insights into white guilt and I’m so excited for you to hear what she has to say.

Are you scared of making mistakes around diversity and inclusion? It’s not like getting someone’s name wrong, it’s like feeling like you’ve added to the injustices that people from marginalised groups already face. That can make you feel a sense of shame and you beat yourself up about it, “I should have known better”, “why didn’t I know that?”, “now everyone thinks I’m stupid or even worse, a biggot”. Trust me, I know how you feel, it happens to everyone, including me. So join me in today’s episode on what to do when you’ve made a mistake (and why it’s okay) where I talk about a mistake I’ve made and how I’m choosing to deal with it.

Want to learn more about diversity but not quite sure where to start? Gosh, I've been there - I'd Google things and get the most random (or boring) resources and wasn't quite sure what to do with them. Lucky for you, I've curated this short list of resources for you to listen to or read over the holidays, they're fresh and up-to-date and I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Advocating for justice for people and the planet - why caring about the environment should mean you care about humans, episode 5 of The Get Woke Vlogcast. Bit of a mouthful that title is but what we’ll be talking about still holds a lot of value. Recognising the importance of Intersectional Environmentalism means that you understand that BIPOC and people from marginalised groups suffer the most from environmental injustices and that caring for the environment should mean that you care about people too. The episode ends with a poem I've written, so check it out!
I personally love this topic and I hope you will too, I end the episode with a poem I wrote! Please let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to hear about!
And don’t forget to follow this podcast, so you don’t miss out.
