The40 (Drum and Bass)

Time to tune back in to a countdown of The40 best tunes around.

After our soulful hiatus we're back with a bang... and a tougher set of tunes.

In fact we have... 40 of the best tunes around at the moment, representing labels and artists from across the scene. From Renegade Hardware to Rinse, Dub Phizix to D Double E and everything in between.

This show features a Classic track request from Richard Driscoll. If you want to select a track, get in touch through any of the platforms - https://instabio.cc/mikeydmix

The usual couple of mixes with a feature in the middle. This time a pause in the countdown as we celebrate one of the architects of the scene we love, known as the DJs DJS, the Daddy, DJ Randall. Tracks made by him, remixed by him and collaborations with him. Rest In Peace ❤️

The next show from us will be an all label mix... True Playaz, The Early Years. You're not ready for it...

Until then though. Nod head, tap foot. Enjoy.

Wow! Here it is then - Evenin’ all!

We started this series of shows in 2011, it’s been on at least 3 radio stations, a podcast on its own and a massive amount of fun - but it’s time for a change up!

Our new show The40 will be starting in the New Year - It’ll be much the same as Back to the Future, loads of new music mixed, but just the chance to play some new jingles (when i’ve made them…), we’ll have a couple of new features and a bit of a monthly chart for my favourite of the 40 tracks.

Thanks to the people that have contributed to the show over the years with guest mixes and appearances live in the studio - DLR, rregula, Nitri, EQ, The Invaderz, Xanadu, Skyz, HLZ, Empi, Trilo, Maject, DirtyAbits, Uplift, Maztek, Lockjaw, Zero Method, Dan XS, Kantyze, Sleeper Cell, Wrekka and the one and only MC Fokus…and speaking of Fokus - on to the show… He’ll be hosting 4 mixes, 2 each, 15 tunes a go. There’s a little section for some thanks and shouts and we have a last one that’s a bit of a show theme tune.

All that said, time to get into it…Back To The Future #100

It’s that time of the year again! Last year's Summer Soulful mix went down so well I thought I’d give you a 2023 version. It’s a mix of the favourite tracks of this ilk I’ve played throughout the year plus a bunch of new tunes from the last few months.

Vocal stylings from [ K S R ], DRS, Fats ❤️, Fox and Steo… and that’s just the boys… Aaliyah Esprit, Catching Cairo, Flowanastasia and Charli Brix, so much Charli Brix bringing the goosebumps.

For bonus points you can check lots of the same artists on my Neo Soul mix for this year too, on my dmixes Mixcloud (link in bio)
