The40 (Drum and Bass)

When we started getting this mix together the virus was a slight concern, a million miles away. As I upload this mix in March 2020 the world has completely shifted.

Despite all of the fear and uncertainty we face over the coming months, we’ve taken real comfort in getting this podcast done.

We hope you enjoy it and that it offers you a little escape… Back To The Future #68

Music from labels across the scene including Innerground, Sofa Sound, Symmetry, Guidance and Chronic. We’ve got a full match report on the new Sofa Sound LP, Sofa King Sick Chapter 1… We’ve also had a good innings with the Nymfo album, Pictures On Silence for you to enjoy.

The 3From this month is from Will Holland. He’s picked an influential Bristol based outfit and a game changing album from the late 90’s - A lovely bunch of tracks.

Next up from us at Back to the Future HQ is the latest in our ICON series of mixes.

Previously we have dedicated full mixes to both the Rufige Kru and Calibre. These mixes are our tribute to artists that have demonstrated consistent quality and longevity in production. In our view there are only a few of these working in our scene.

... and this time we turn our attentions to the force that is Break.

Now, regular listeners will know that we consider ourselves aficionados of this artist… you could call us Breakologists or more likely Breakaholics, so this has been a true labour of love.

Due to the sheer weight of output from this man we have decided to ‘break’ this series into 3 parts. These will appear over the next year.

The first part of this trilogy is ‘Break – The Remixes’. Here we look at his ability to refresh and transform music from many sources. Often it’s a Drum and Bass remix of a Drum and Bass track, though with seamless ease he can tackle different genres and still maintain the edge and funk that defines his production style.

The 30 tracks start from 2005 and run right up to this year and show his evolving styles through the years and of course respect and consideration to the source material.

The dictionary says that an icon is ‘A person or thing regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of veneration’.

Well that just about says it all... so with great respect and reverence we present you.

A yo!

We’re back after a bit of a break with a special show.

Welcome along to our 60th podcast.

From the humble beginnings as a radio show in 2012 all the way through the last 6 or so years to get here. We have recorded 60 shows!!

I have been listening back recently (as we know you all do), even the oldest of our shows will get around 10 plays per month… and with good reason… they sound amazing still.

The Top 10’s, Guest Mixes, All Artist mixes... those crazy nights with Wrekka... well worth catching up with. We’ve been blessed with over 80,000 plays and downloads from every corner of the world and have spoken with so many of you over years.

As you know we try to keep the format fresh and we feel it’s time for a change. We will not be giving you the track names during our mixes, instead you can find this information below and of course our Facebook fan page…

www.facebook.com/dmixandevolve

We are also introducing a new feature… It’s called ‘3 from 1’. Have a listen to it, let us know how it sounds.
