Inquirer theater critic Howard Shapiro speaks with Richard L. Maimon, the architect from the KieranTimberlake firm who designed the new Suzanne Roberts Theatre on Broad Street. The theater is the new home of the Philadelphia Theatre Company, which opened it with Being Alive, a musical pastiche of Stephen Sondheim's songs and William Shakespeare's words. The show runs through Dec. 2.

Jeanine Tesori, composer of the musical "Caroline, or Change," Tony Kushner's story of an African-American maid and the Jewish family she works for in Louisiana in 1963. Tesori scored "Thoroughly Modern Millie", which won the Tony for best musical in 2003. "Caroline, or Change" plays at the Arden Theatre through April 15.
