  • 151: 80 Minutes No Interval (review)
Stream podcast episodes on demand from www.bitesz.com (mobile friendly).80 Minutes No Interval (Theatreworks)Louis is a failing novelist, which wouldn’t be the case if he’d stop messing with tense and obscuring narrative. He used to be a theatre reviewer, and he’d still be doing that if a red box hadn’t been invented that writes perfect reviews. His girlfriend would still be around if he’d stopped taking her to the theatre, and he’d have a home if he hadn’t worn out his welcome at his parent’s investment property. One thing Louis does have is grit; he ain’t gonna let nothing or nobody bring him down. But sometimes art happens, and when it does… two words… pens and eyes. Pens. Eyes. For more information visit   http://www.theatreworks.org.au/program/80-minutes-no-interval/  Theatre First RSS feed:   https://feeds.megaphone.fm/ivetheatrereviews Subscribe, rate and review Theatre First at all good podcatcher apps, including Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes), Stitcher, Pocket Casts, CastBox.FM, Podbean, ACast etc.If you're enjoying Theatre First podcast, please share and tell your friends. • 146: Next Move 11 (review)
Stream podcast episodes on demand from www.bitesz.com (mobile friendly).Next Move 11Chunky Move presents Next Move 11 featuring two new works choreographed and performed by company dancers Lauren Langlois and Joel Bray.In an absurd vision of a future that’s hurtling towards us, Lauren Langlois and James Vu Anh Pham present physicality as the last frontier of what it means to be human. A hybrid of contemporary dance and physical theatre, Nether invites you to enter an exhilarating visceral labyrinth, where the metahuman, memory, and technological obsessions collide. Using non-linear narrative techniques Nether is a response to a society that puts constraints on us, where dystopian worlds meet frenzied dance, asking the body in crisis to explore the subtleties of human existence. What happens when our humanity is stripped bare and all we are left with is embodiment? Dharawungara by Joel Bray (Complexity of Belonging) is a collision of rituals. Following his successful work Biladurang, the audience is invited to reimagine the theatre as a ceremonial ground of light and sound, as Joel explores how to breathe life into this Wiradjuri rite he has only ever read about. Naretha Williams joins Bray onstage as songwoman, and her driving beats conjure the space around us. Together they create a site of intersection between his ancestral ceremonial practice, our collective imagination and the realities of colonization. For more information visit  http://chunkymove.com/our-works/current-repertoire/next-move-11/ Theatre First RSS feed:   https://feeds.megaphone.fm/ivetheatrereviews Subscribe, rate and review Theatre First at all good podcatcher apps, including Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts (formerly iTunes), Stitcher, Pocket Casts, CastBox.FM, Podbean, ACast etc.If you're enjoying Theatre First podcast, please share and tell your friends.
