When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Prop 8 (voted into law by the people through a ballot measure, not the Sacramento congress), liberal Californian politicians embraced the idea that we need to obey the federal government. Now, they are singing a different tune about the federal government! One such doctrine is the doctrine of “predestination,” sometimes also referred to as “Calvinism.” This teaching makes an extremely controversial claim; that God decides ahead of time who will or will not accept the forgiveness of Jesus. I.E. Human beings supposedly do not have free will, and yet this same God will send people to heaven or hell based upon what they decided (or merely think they decided.) Bob expresses sympathy toward any who would reject such an idea about God’s character.
