On the 20th edition of TheDrillBook Digest we touch on a couple of topics. First we are really excited to partner with Active Kids to provide their drill of the week. Active Kids is a great all-encompassing website that provides links and information that parents and coaches can use to make sure that all kids are active. Steve Kinsey is the director of coaching for Four Corners United in Farmington, New Mexico and he is also the NSCAA Region 4 Volunteer of the Year. Steve is a humble but dedicated soccer man who has a real "kids first" mentality when it comes to assisting his coaches. He was kind enough to share his journey from being a late comer to the sport to traveling to Philadelphia this past January to be recognized nationally for his tireless efforts.

In this episode of the digest we introduce you to a TheDrillBook user and talk about why your feedback is so important to growing our community. Cary Kish is a volunteer Atom hockey coach from Lethbridge, Alberta and he is a DrillBook user. Why talk to Cary about his experience? Simple, Cary has been providing feedback to us since he first found TheDrillBook. While Cary is happy with his overall experience he is happy to share his feedback on how we can improve the product. Just as feedback is important between a coach and a player, we value that same kind of feedback from everyone who uses TheDrillBook. If you are new to site and app, or a longtime user you will get something out of our conversation with Cary.

On this podcast we introduce you to the pride of the University of Maine Presque Isle Owls Division III Baseball team Oz Sailors. In addition to being a pitcher and captain for the Owls she happens to be the only female baseball player in the NCAA. Sailors is quick to point out that she tires of questions about being the lone girl in men's college baseball and she is working to change that. As a board member of Baseball For All Sailors is working to create more opportunities in baseball for women. Her journey started at a very young age and has wound from coast to coast and around the world representing the United States. Oz shares her challenges and her success's in a baseball career that is far from over.

In this chapter of our conversation Cedric gives us his thoughts on coaching and what he advice he has for coaches. We discuss the global growth of the game and what opportunities come with the expansion of basketball. Cedric also gives you a glimpse into his journey on the court and off. We finish off with Ceballos talking about his favourite basketball memory and the answer might surprise you.

From playing pro soccer in Iceland to the challenges and opportunities for soccer in the US the conversation is a wide ranging enjoyable romp that is sure to please fan, coach, and parent alike.

Episode #13 of the Digest is a special one for us as we are proud to partner with the Vancouver Canucks to make TheDrillBook available to coaches on the West Coast. Rod Brathwaite works for the Vancouver Canucks Centre for BC Hockey and Canucks Alumni Liaison and he helped put this partnership together. We discuss the Canucks commitment to growing the game of hockey and helping to develop coaches in British Columbia. We also touch on the work that the Canucks do to give back to a large fan base and community.

On episode #14 of TheDrillBook Digest we are joined in conversation by Dick Scott who is responsible for our baseball content. It is a talk about communication and how it influence's a young persons mental approach to ball and other sports too. This is a very important topic for Dick, one that he learned about from his father and one he uses all of the time in his day job. Mr. Scott by the way is the minor league field coordinator for the New York Mets, a former major leaguer, and a holder of two World Series rings.

Episode #12 is a very important one for us here at TheDrillBook as we introduce you to our Sports Medicine partner Dr. Brian Benson the Director of Sports Medicine at the Canadian Sports Institute. Dr. Benson is an authority in the field of sports medicine with a focus on treating, preventing, and researching concussions. Safe to say there is no more discussed topic in all levels of sport than head injuries. Our conversation with Brian covers a broad swath of topics related to concussions and is a must listen for anyone involved in sport. Dr. Benson is going to have a huge role growing the sports medicine platform on TheDrillBook.
