On this episode of the Digest we spend some time with a real interesting coach named Mike Murray. Mike coaches kids in Kansas City in the Mid-West Black Sox program. He is a life long learner who has dedicated himself to exploring all aspects of coaching. Mike, like many of us, faces all of the common challenges of balancing kids in a year round sport and the expectations of parents. While not a household name Mike is a very well spoken and really inspiring baseball man who has a lot of ideas worth discussing.

We discuss one of the hottest topics in youth sports these days which single sport specialization by kids. Everyone agrees that there comes a point in an elite athlete's development where he or she needs to commit full time to that sport, but it seems like there is an epidemic of young people being forced to choose at a younger and younger age to pick a single discipline.
