In episode 52, I’ll talk about StrengthsFinder….Duh! And I’ll discuss some of the tools I use to make the hustle a little easier.

Everyone wants to be successful, but not everyone is willing to put in the work to get there. Whatever success looks like to you, you have to make sure you inject a healthy dose of Strengths awareness before you embark on your journey. To hustle is one thing, but to know how you perform at your best is another. You could be spending an insane amount of time focusing on tasks that are unfulfilling, unrewarding, and unlikely to lead you to that pinnacle. If you don’t know your strengths, and take action to reveal those bundles of talent that keep your motor running, you’ll run out of fuel before you reach a single milestone.

I know…I know! It has been too long since I posted an episode of THEME-ADDICTS. For that, I am sorry. I won’t make excuses, but I will in this episode.

Anyway, there have been a few signs along the way in my strengths journey. One of those indicators of awesomeness was a parable I read in the book, Soar with Your Strengths. “Let the Rabbits Run!” will  lead you through a journey of a rabbit struggling with the thought of becoming well-rounded. This brief parable catapulted me on a mission to change the world!

Why do we continue to ignore our strengths? Is spending time focusing on our weaknesses the best way to develop our own unique talents? 

I hope you enjoy THEME-ADDICTS 2.0! Life is seemingly unpredictable at times, but…you can give up, or you can move on. We always have a choice! 2015 was a great year!

Grace LaConte (www.laconteconsulting.com) joined THEME-ADDICTS as my co-host. She brought with her a desire to learn more about both her own strengths, as well as this little thing called podcasting.

Strengths-Based Development is a product we provide to our clients in the Middle East as a foundation for Leadership Growth and to develop a ‘Chess’ vs. ‘Checkers’ mindset; in other words treating the people according to their own map and not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I took the SF 2.0 assessment, believed in it and started to think about ‘what goes on under the hood’ while I am making a choice in my life. We are blessed as humans by the ability to fly over our beliefs/paradigms using our self-awareness power.

My self-awareness became sharper, more trusted and clearer using the Strengths Glossary I acquired by learning about the 34 themes from Gallup CSF research . I am now a Certified Strengths Coach who also works for David Allen as a certified Trainer so the ‘CSF-GTD’ combo insanely revolutionized my entire Life!

Rachel Kagay is a passionate advocate of strengths-based development and became one of the first Gallup-Certified Strengths Coaches in Iowa in February 2015.

First exposed to Gallup’s strengths work in 2006, Rachel was drawn to the positive psychology approach to life and work. Rachel engages with individuals, managers, and teams to discover and maximize their God-given, natural potential through strengths-based development principles. She works to assist others in intentionally leveraging their natural talents and strengths daily to reach personal and professional success.

Rachel believes strongly that people learn best through a process of self-reflection and evaluation, increased self-awareness, and experiential learning. She works enthusiastically to make her coaching sessions engaging, relevant, and applicable. Rachel works with clients in one-on-one settings, as well as through workshops, seminars and retreats. Creating engaging content customized to meet each client’s unique needs and performance goals is of utmost importance.

Rachel coaches through her position as Leadership Development Manager at the FFA Enrichment Center located in Ankeny, Iowa. Additionally, Rachel’s experience includes coaching both for profit and non-profit entities. She is passionate about agriculture, education, and faith-based fields.
