Matthew 14:13-18 shows us an interesting way that the disciples assessed the situation and then petitioned Jesus. They saw the reality of a situation and then told Jesus what to do. Why does Matthew include a similar parable with a similar explanation from Jesus in Matthew 13:47-40 (see also Matt 13:36-43)? Is it redundant or purposeful? Does repetition mean anything in the Bible? Matthew's repeating of a similar explanation by Jesus is meant to point us toward the importance of the message Jesus was communicating.
