Broun, Scott, and Evan look at this month's headlines, including excommunicating Biden, casual sex being ok'd by Christians, the God-fearing and godless divide, and abortion being banned in a major city. Broun does outreach at Rice University with Reformed University Fellowship, Scott is a Middle School Outreach at Memorial Drive Presbyterian, and Evan is the pastor of First Lutheran.
Speaking in tongues, miracles, healing, people being slain in the spirit. Is any of that for real? Is some of it real, and some of it just people getting caught up in emotion? What is the role of the Holy Spirit in the church and in our lives? That mysterious 3rd person of the Trinity that doesn’t seem to get talked about as much… What are the “gifts” of the spirit, and do all of them still happen today? What does it mean to be baptized in the spirit, or filled with the Spirit, and what about people who have never “felt” the Holy Spirit? We’ll be talking about all of that and more on today’s episode of Theology on Air
Leviticus is an oft-skipped book of the Bible that details a sacrificial system that has been fulfilled with the death and resurrection of Christ. And yet, it does contain moral content that still applies. Dr. Paul Copan, author of "Is God a Moral Monster", joins us to talk about this surprisingly interesting and relevant book.
On this episode, we talk to Clay Cassasa, who grew up in a strict community whose ideas were somewhat popularized by the Duggar family. He talks about the main ideas that defined and animated the group as well as the emotional and spiritual difficulties of leaving. He describes coming to know true grace as taught by orthodox Christianity and what a relief that was. Thanks to Clay for sharing his story!
Pastor Bob Garment joins us to look at some of the weirdest Bible passages. We look at the question of incest in Genesis, why God would command circumcision, who the Nephilim were, why a prophet would call down a curse on a gang of boys, and whether there are zombies in the New Testament. Whew!
This month's Around the Blackboard looks at headlines ranging from the scientific (man and machine becoming one) to the legal (several states writing laws to deal with LGBTQ issues) to the bizarre (hello, Satan shoes.) Thanks to Patrick Hall, Rector at Epiphany Episcopal in Houston for joining Sarah and Evan.
From atheism and communism to evangelical Christian, journalist Marvin Olasky has taught countless college students, advised a former President, mentored rising journalists, written numerous books including The Tragedy of American Compassion, and explored ideologies all over the globe as he reported the news. How can journalists maintain objectivity in today's culture? How can they embrace their convictions about Christianity while working in a non-Christian world? We talk about all of that and more with Marvin Olasky.
Epic Archaeology's Ted Wright joins us to look at the major themes and events of the book of Exodus.
For this Facebook Live event, we tackle faith "deconstruction", scandals in the Church (RZIM), "smaller" sins like smoking and swearing, whether angels (including the "fallen" variety) are running the world, human rights via the Bible, and more.
What's your sign? Former New Ager Marcia Montenegro joins us to look at Astrology. Is this an acceptable practice for Christians? is it harmless fun? Or is it dangerously close to outright paganism?
