This week, Dr. Joel mentions the narrative of the story of Joshua. What happens in this story is like a great adventure in which God guides Joshua with the purpose of reclaiming the land of Canaan. God sends them on a military responsibility.

The Book of Joshua gives the sense that God calls his people to full obedience. But there is a danger lurking in these lands, who are the gods of the nations.

Entering the book of Joshua we also see that the book of Jasher is mentioned, but what is the book of Jasher? Finally, we see in the New Testament a story in the Book of Luke that deals with a Pharisee from the religious elite and a woman who considers herself a sinner.

Why does cosmic geography matter in David’s story—and in the entire biblical narrative?

From Genesis 11, where the people gathered on the plains of Shinar to build a tower, to Israel’s key battles, the Bible shows that ancient people believed geography was deeply tied to supernatural realities. Mountains, for example, were seen as sacred meeting places between God and humanity.

In this week's video, Dr. Joel explains some important topics. One point he touches on is why the anointing took place when Moses finished assembling the Tabernacle. Anointing with oil was an act rich with meaning and is further developed in the New Testament. He also explains how the Lord speaks to Moses from above the mercy seat.

What this teaches us is that when God speaks to us, He speaks as a merciful King. What did Jesus do for us?

It is on the cross that He extends the greatest amount of mercy and compassion, making it possible for all who repent of their sins to turn to Him. The cross is God speaking to us from that place of mercy.
