As I write this, it’s Sunday. So, time for a Bible study. And, now, anyone who’s still here, I’ve got this question for you. Why is it so difficult for most people to admit the Creator of the universe is real?
It’s simple really. When you look at a building, you know automatically that someone built it. Or when you spot a painting on a canvas, immediately you know someone painted it. And when you’re driving somewhere, you have no question in your mind of how cars got here. Or roads. You simply know someone built it all.
So, why is it so difficult for so many people to look at the complexity and variety of life on our planet and agree there must be a Creator of the universe?
And let’s just talk about your eyes for a sec.
No, not YOURS personally. Eyes in general.
They’re WAY more complex than any building, painting, or car you’ll ever see. But so many people blindly believe (pun strongly intended) they just happened by chance. You know. Because, like, well, everything evolved, dude.
Oh yeah? Well, splain this to me, then.
Each of your eyes has a muscle, known as the Superior Oblique muscle. And it’s attached to the top of the eye AND threaded through a tiny sling. That tiny sling is known as the Trochlea. But why does that tiny muscle go through that sling instead of just attaching directly to the forward part of your eye?
Well, it solves space requirements and improves things like angle of torque. And those are design considerations. Evolution or natural selection would require at least a little bit of the design to already be working in order to “evolve” further. And, as they say in certain circles, that don’t make no sense.
Uh-oh. I just went and done it, didn’t I? Because most fools, uh folks, believe it’s a silly, outdated, and dogmatic notion to believe the whole world was created by a “science fiction” character named Jesus.
But, since this is a Bible study I’m sharin’, I’m here to say it’s a silly, outdated, and dogmatic notion to believe all the complexity in the universe evolved from nothing.
Because you can’t get everything from nothing. No matter how much you might want it to be true, it just isn’t possible. Even if you believe all you can know is what your five senses tell you, none of your five senses will detect something from nothing.
Logic and reason (which are not part of your five senses, by the way) should lead you to admit design requires a designer. And, in the case of the universe, that designer is Jesus.
Like I started out saying…it’s simple really. Unless you don’t want to answer to the Creator of the universe. That’s not you, is it?
All of creation points to the Savior.
All of creation holds information…
That all of creation is here by the Word of God.
If you agree with the evidence for the existence of God, let’s stay connected. It’s super easy. Here’s how:
It’s good stuff based on the power of God’s love. And, when you send me your email address, I’ll send you download links to music and The Very First 6 Days (a rhyming book for kids about the creation week) right away. Kids from 3 to 103 can enjoy these fun goodies. So, don’t wait another minute. Here’s the form.

I wrote a rhyme called Face to Face. And it talked about how glorious it’ll be when you see Jesus in person. It WILL be indescribably beautiful and wonderful. Believers will experience all of God’s love for eternity.
I also wrote a song, as a tribute, to a young man who died of cancer a few years ago. The song is called “Jeremiah’s Prayer.” I took poetic license with a prayer Jeremiah shared on his social media accounts. And thousands of people enjoyed how the song showed his courage as he looked forward to meeting the Lord “face to face.”
And it’s true. That face to face meeting is the “hope of glory” Paul wrote about. And Heaven will be where we’ll live, in God’s peace and promises, forever.
And that’s not to say, as some mistakenly do, that Earth is part of Heaven. Sure, it was supposed to be that way. And it was that way. Until Adam and Eve opened the door to sin. Then, it “flooded” paradise and we’ve all been dealing with the consequences ever since.
But that’s not to say this world isn’t abundantly filled with awesome beauty. Just get away from your devices and distractions and go outside. Take a look. And from the tops of the redwood trees to bottom of the ocean, God’s love can be seen in His creation.
From the telescopic views of galaxies to the microscopic peeks into the human genome, God’s love and infinitely brilliant mind are clearly seen.
And that’s only a part of why no one will have an excuse when they see Him face to face one day. And no doubt about it, that day is inevitable. So, that’s why I share something about the comforting hope I have, just about every day. Because I hope that hope flows into someone else who needs it.
Now, if that’s you, and you just haven’t caught sight of your Creator yet, step outside and look at…
All of creation points to the Savior.
All of creation holds information…
That…

With all the randomness in the universe, and our cute, little solar system, it’s a wonder that we can predict the moon phases with such accuracy. But we’re so good at it (and by “we” I mean earthlings) that we name the phases. And we know when they’re gonna happen. And we even know the best places to view them.
Nothing short of miraculous.
Well, not with regularity anyway. But here we are. About to enjoy another Buck Supermoon. (Is it just me, or does that sound like the name for a Saturday morning cartoon hero?) Yep, a Supermoon that occurs right around the time the antlers on buck deer are growing. That’s a phase you can hang your hat on.
Anyway…
There’s supposed to be a Buck Moon in full view tonight. July 2, 2023 as I write this. And it’s this year’s first supermoon. Depending on how you do the timing, it’s anywhere from this evening to tomorrow morning.
But, as I said, we can actually pinpoint the moon phases with such accuracy it’s nothing short of uncanny in this random existence in which we find ourselves. Check out this description from a science website:
“The Earth-facing side of the moon will be fully lit by the sun at 6:40 a.m. EDT on Monday, July 3, but it will be best viewed at moonrise the previous evening as it appears in the southeastern sky. It will be in the constellation Sagittarius, and will appear bright and full on the nights of July 2 and 4 as well.”
Like how astronomers know that every month, in the moon’s elliptical orbit of Earth, it has a point of perigee and a point of apogee. Just a fancy way of saying when it’s closest to Earth and when it’s farthest away from Earth. And they know the distance between those points ranges from 225,800 to 251,800 miles. So, knowing all that, they can tell you when supermoons will happen.
By the way, the Buck Supermoon, this month, is gonna be the smallest one this year. So, if you really wanna be impressed, stick around for the two supermoons in August and one in September.
In case you can’t tell, or you don’t know me, NO, I don’t get goosebumps because of the miracles of moon phases. Because there aren’t any such miracles. But I AM thrilled to know how dependable those phases are. And how dependable the rest of our cozy solar system is.
Because that dependability points to a designed system. Not a result of randomness. No, randomness could never, in trillions of years (much less a few billion) have created the precision we can observe. So, when I look up at a moon that looks bigger than usual, I think about Who put it there.
And it reminds me of these words: “Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.” (You can find that in the very first paragraphs of the Bible.)
Which was a 24 hours day, by the way. Not potential eons of time. And that’s a rabbit trail that leads me to a book for kids that talks about the very first six days. Matter of fact, it’s called The Very First 6 Days. What a colossal coincidence. Here’s a clip, from the book, about the very first day…
Before there were created things
He looked down at the waters
Then God divided light and dark,

Right up front, I gotta say it. And I know this is anathema to the enlightened, evolutionary worldview. But here it is. There’s no such thing as fossil fuel. Bam! I just attacked the whole fossils evolution connection. And, no, there won’t be a forthcoming retraction or apology.
And I probably shouldn’t say that. Because it’s an affront to the fairies in actual fairy tales. (side note: adults don’t believe in fairies or fairy tales. They’re reserved for kids’ imaginations.)
Anyway…
I’ve already talked about the advantages of crude oil. And how it’s a renewable resource. But most people are still scared of the big monster known as “Carbonus Emmisionatus” (aka: carbon emissions). So, hugs and kisses flow to EV car makers where magical batteries are charged by butterfly wings and pixie dust.
Oh wait. There are reports coming in, right now, that EV car charging stations are powered by (GASP!) connecting to the electricity grid. Not butterfly wings and pixie dust. AND that grid is powered by hydroelectric stations that run on (Dare I say it? Yes, I do.) by-products of crude oil.
Kids! Turn your heads. Don’t look. It’s too horrible to even think about.
But we’ve got to keep those dastardly hydroelectric stations going. Because we’ve got to forge ahead with electric cars. Because electric cars run on batteries made of materials that can be found in endless amounts.
Oh wait. More reports coming in. What?! Can this be true? EV car batteries include materials that are NOT in endless supply? And what’s this? They consist of materials that are in even lower supply than crude oil? Plus, the batteries don’t last forever? And disposal could involve less than desirable environmental impact?
And I use the word, maybe, facetiously. Of course it’s a good time. It’s been a good time since time began (and when I say “time began” I mean for humans, but that talk is for another time)
Now, when I mention H2, you don’t think I’m talking about Hummers. Right? I’m not. Although, I believe the Hummer H2 could benefit from H2 technology.
Thankfully, a company I’ve been a fan of for decades, Toyota, is in almost relentless pursuit of efficient and safe H2 technology for the auto industry. And I read some info about their Corolla H2 concept car that sounded very cool.
Sure, they had a fire during a test of their liquid hydrogen-powered car. But they pushed ahead. And they announced their Corolla H2 “will compete for the first time at the Fuji 24 Hours” later this month.
But maybe you’ve heard about the fire dangers connected to H2 (aka: hydrogen). And the fire that Toyota dealt with was evidently caused, ironically, “by a loose connection within the hydrogen supply piping.” And they said the leak “occurred from the joint nearest to the engine, following its exposure to powertrain movement and vibration.” But the car’s safety system “shut off the hydrogen supply in under 0.1 seconds.”
And it meant there would be “no further damage or injury…to the vehicle or driver.”
Of course, some (maybe many) might say, “But it’s hydrogen. Remember the Hindenburg disaster. We’d better stick with our gas and electric engines. Because they’re safe and stable.”
Well, not so fast. Here’s something to consider.
“Given a spark, gasoline will burn in any environment. Hydrogen, on the other hand, only ignites at certain concentrations and temperatures,” commented Tomoya Takahashi, president of the Gazoo Racing Company. “Specifically, it needs a 4% concentration in air and a temperature of at least 550˚C. Hydrogen will not ignite under any other conditions.”
Wow. And for those keeping score, 550˚C equals 1022 in American temperature. So, it’s obviously not impossible. But it’ll be less and less likely to ever occur as testing and production improve the H2 technology to the level of efficient and safe we now enjoy in gas-powered engines.
Some of the top people in the Toyota company believe (and say) that H2 is the true future for cars. And I won’t take issue with that, even though it’s obvious that crude oil is a renewable resource. I won’t take issue because, according to most scientific sources, hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. So, maybe there’s enough to go around for everyone. And hydrogen powered engines only emit water.
Akio Toyoda, the chairman of Toyota, said this about H2 cars, “I drive the car myself, and we’re not giving up on the project. I want people to see hydrogen not as a danger, but as our future.”
I believe that the fossils evolution connection slows down technology. Because it’s driven by, and it drives, fear. A fear that we humans will destroy “mother earth.” Or a fear that we’ll use up all our resources. Or have too many people for the amount of resources.
Put your faith in God, the one who created heaven and earth and said it’s “very good.” And trust that His word is true when He says that as long as the earth remains, we’ll have spring time and harvest, cold and hot, winter and summer. You and I don’t live on a fragile bubble.
But it doesn’t matter if you prefer gas engines or electric. H2 technology or wind. Because every bit of it WILL be gone one day. But you’ll still exist. Or you’ll still live. The difference is based on your choice.
And here’s a quote from me that’s better than the Toyota CEO’s quote, “I trust Jesus myself. And I’m not giving up on Him. I want you to see Him not as a condemner, but as the Savior.”

The history of Play Dough (also known as Play Doh) is interesting. Because it actually started out as a product to help people clean the wallpaper in their homes.
Yeah, a guy named Cleo McVicker created the stuff back in the 1930’s. His soap company, Kutol Products, was about to go out of business. But he negotiated a contract, with the Kroger grocery chain, to make an easy-to-use wallpaper cleaner. Because, back then, a lot of houses in America used coal stoves and heaters. And the soot would build up on their wallpapered walls.
But, after World War II, a lot of, if not most, families converted those coal-based stove and heaters to oil and gas. And eventually electric, of course. And poor Mr. McVicker’s company started to tank again.
After Cleo died in 1949, his son, Joseph, took over the Kutol Products business and had to deal with keeping it going. Fortunately his sister-in-law was a school teacher.
What’s that got to do with play dough? Thanks for asking, invisible internet voice. Joseph’s sister-in-law, Kay Zufall, invited him to check out her young schoolchildren’s creations they had made using Kutol Products as sort of a crafting clay.
Naturally, Mr. McVicker liked what he saw. And he went back to the factory to reformulate and repurpose that special product. The great news was that they could use the same heavy-duty equipment and manufacturing space they already had. But now, the end product would be a child’s toy instead of wallpaper cleaner.
I remember playing with Play Dough (or Play Doh) when I was a kid. In school. And at home. And to this day, I could probably travel back in time, in my head, with just a sniff of the stuff. I love a story of classic Americana like that. Especially when it’s simple ingredients that kids love to squish between their fingers and mold into other shapes.
But isn’t it freakishly sad how many school kids, these days, believe they themselves are some sort of play doh? They believe they can mold their own bodies into an entirely different gender. So, they have parts cut off. And they “add stuff to the recipe,” so to speak. Like hormones. And blockers. And skin grafts. Doctor Frankenstein would be so proud.
Of course, those adults (and I hesitate to call them that), who “support” those children in their quest to find their “gender identity,” actually will go as far as to pay to have their daughters’ breasts removed. Or their sons’ genitalia removed.
It sounds like a horror movie. But it’s a horror reality show. And it’s playing 24/7 right here in the so-called “greatest nation” on Earth. America has rapidly devolved into dark den of iniquity. And that’s just an old-fashioned way of saying it’s a freak show.
Ironically, AND shamefully, many parents who say they’d “never hit a child” have no problem paying for operation to help those children “transition” from a boy to a girl. Or from a girl to a boy.
But the idiotic part is, no person can transition from one gender to another. You and I are not dough. We’re human beings, created in the image and likeness of God. So, when you received the gametes, from your parents, that determined you’d either have XX Chromosomes or XY Chromosomes, your gender was unalterably created.
So, please celebrate the girl-ness of your girls. And the boy-ness of your boys. It takes both to make more humans. Regardless of how Frankensteinian future AI medical “marvels” get. They’ll still need male and female genetics.
And I don’t recommend being on that side of history. Don’t be a Play Duh!
