Welcome back to Season 3 of the Therapy Dogs Australia Podcast.

Sam and Max are offering this podcast as a free resource for those who think they may need a Pre-Course Consultation before committing financially to studying with us. Typically, these consults are booked for a 1:1 setting, which is an expense to the client. We have a booking form that has questions designed to screen for whether or not a client should invest their money in a Therapy Dog Pre Course Consult - as some dog/handler teams have clear issues that need to be addressed before they consider Therapy Dog training - while some appear to have no concerns at all, therefore not needing an individual consult.

This podcast will walk you through exactly what we are looking for in a dog & handler team, and which observations that we make of the team are a definite 'no' versus a definite 'yes'. This includes information on what some of the expectations of a Therapy Dog team might be during their day to day working role.

This episode will also be really handy for Therapy Dog Trainers who are developing their knowledge in the Therapy Dog industry.

S2:E16 Can I take my puppy to work or not?!

There is so much conflicting advice out there about this question. You know why? Because the answer is it depends!

Depends on what? Sam has finally broken the entire decision making process down in to a million pieces to help puppy owners to decide whether or not it is the right decision for them to take their dog in to their workplace or various other environments. By the end of this episode, you should be able to make this decision for yourself. If you are still unsure - then it's probably 'no'.

This episode has some really important socialisation information in it, considered alongside the 'real life' scenarios of actually taking your dog to your workplace, where you work - so will be useful also for Therapy Dog Trainers.

Can Deaf Dogs be Therapy Dogs?

Today Sam chats with Robyn Adair, who works in a school focusing on community engagement with her therapy dog Elle, who is deaf!

Robyn is also a part-time dog trainer who specialises in dogs with disabilities and during this episode, she goes into detail about what it's like working in a school environment with Elle and the special considerations and adjustments she makes to facilitate Elle's interactions with students and staff.
