Tonight, on a very special episode of “There Can Be Only One,” Herman “Omega Prime” Davis and Robert Rau watch 10 movies and 3 features for 25 hours straight at the 18th Annual Butt-Numb-A-Thon in Austin, TX.

This is the first time Herman has been to Butt-Numb-A-Thon (third for Robert), and Robert was sure that Herman would either come out of this smiling or never wanting to see a movie again.

Two movies titled The Perfect Weapon enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau watch 90s action star Jeff Speakman at the height of his career — and 90s action star Steven Seagal not at the height of his career — to find out who earns the right to be called The Perfect Weapon.

Steven Seagal’s career, as bizarre as it is, has led him to this 2016 sci-fi world where he is the unquestioned ruler. This means his face is on the sides of buildings, and — luckily for him — involves as little movement as possible. He obviously isn’t the perfect weapon in this film, but the real star, Johnny Messner, plays Condor, a no-nonsense hitman who is tied into way too many conspiracies. Currently sitting at a 3.3 on IMDB, the movie is not just bad, but Condor’s sloppy work also makes us reconsider the title.

And in this corner, Jeff Speakman is too perfect. His anger and bad judgement get him in trouble, but at least he is efficient when it comes to eliminating his enemies. But when a shop owner dies at the hands of the mob, Speakman angrily lashes out at anyone he sees. There’s plenty to like about this movie, especially the overuse of ‘The Power’ by Snap, but is Speakman’s actions worthy of being called The Perfect Weapon? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled (The) Arrival enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau watch this year’s odds-on favorite for Best Picture — and Charlie Sheen play an alien-busting scientist — to find out who earns the right to be called (The) Arrival.

Ever since the name change from The Story of Your Life, the TCBOO gang has been chomping at the bit to cover these two movies. Here’s a movie destined for tons of awards and money, and the only thing standing in its way is a 1996 movie with the same title. The question is certainly not which film is better (because Charlie Sheen traded his movie star status for television/rehab a long time ago), but was this the right title switch for the Amy Adams movie?

That’s nothing against  the 1996 film, because other than being the plot to They Live, it is quite enjoyable for a B-movie. Charlie Sheen made you believe he was a scientist, at least for the first 10 minutes when he wasn’t punching aliens. The one big disadvantage the 1996 movie has is the tone. Short titles are meant for serious movies, and a mysterious species terraforming the Earth with Ricky Vaughn as our only hope doesn’t feel like it wants to be taken seriously.

Nevertheless, will either movie have a legitimate shot at being called (The) Arrival? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled Trapped enter, only one will leave (with that title), as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis, Kendal Duffy-Paye, and Robert Rau watch Kevin Bacon out-creep Courtney Love — and Henry Silva try to kill some college kids — to find out who earns the right to be called Trapped.

Released in 2002 and starring Charlize Theron, Kevin Bacon, Courtney Love, Dakota Fanning, and Stuart Townsend, the first movie was a complete mystery to everyone. Sure, it involves Kevin Bacon getting way too comfortable with kidnapping kids and seducing the mom, but forgetful is not the same as unsettling. Turns out this movie is certainly average, with the kidnappers acting way too chill to expect anyone to fight back. It also has a problem with the title, since no one is trapped, but rather, only mildly inconvenienced.

The second movie stars Henry Silva as a hillbilly who believes in mountain justice. Henry finds his wife with an out-of-towner, so there’s only one solution: tar and feather the guy. Some college kids see this go down, and since they just won’t shut up about this to the cops, they might as well get tarred and feathered too. While more in common with the title, solid exploitation movies need catchier titles (and not the alternate title Harlan County, USA)

This will be a tough road for both movies, but will either have a legitimate shot at being called Trapped? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled Alone In The Dark enter, only one will leave (with that title), as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis, Eric McCauley, and Robert Rau watch Tara Reid play a science person and Martin Landau cut up complete strangers to see who keeps the title Alone In The Dark.

Frankly, there is no real appeal to a Uwe Boll movie. The guy makes movies meant to fail, and his 2005 video game adaptation is no exception. Starring Christian Slater, Tara Reid, and Stephen Dorff, this could easily have been the bottom row of an episode of Hollywood Squares, but more importantly, no one actually is what the title promises. It’s one thing to be a bad movie, it’s even worse if you ignore your title.

The second movie is from 1982 and has a murderers row of crazy old people: Jack Palance, Martin Landau, and Donald Pleasence. Most of these people play mentally damaged guys who want to kill the new doctor for replacing their old doctor, as well as any corroborating witnesses. While some of these people are certainly afraid of the dark, that fear made them travel in packs.

This will be a tough road for both movies, but who will actually keep the title Alone in the Dark?  Listen if you dare.

Three movies enter, one movie leaves as Herman Davis and Robert Rau watch three separate mysteries fight for the right to be called Dressed To Kill.

Originally, this was just going to be a double feature, focusing in on the Brian De Palma and Sherlock Holmes movies, but Netflix had other ideas. When they recommend a 1941 version at a scant 70 minutes, it is hard to turn down.

First up was Michael Caine and Nancy Allen caught in a web of lies and Hitchcock homages. Good or bad, De Palma is at the very least interesting, and this is no exception. And it is a clear favorite to keep its title due to being about both killing and dressing up.

The two 40s movies, while both entertaining, weren’t as drawn to the title. Sherlock Holmes went looking for music boxes, and Lloyd Nolan solved a murder conveniently held at his hotel complex.

Who will retain the title Dressed to Kill? Can De Palma win on name recognition alone? Listen if you dare.

Too many times Robert has forced Herman to watch horrible movies, now the table has turned. Herman found both of these films on Netflix, and with a suggested rating of 1.5 stars, he said “screw it” and suggested them anyway.

The first is from WWE Studios — which has appeared on this podcast before (Inside Out) — and stars John Cena as a believable 28-year-old who helps his younger brother wrestle. Danny Glover and Patricia Clarkson showed up as well, but not much else in this film was related to the title. This second film has got to be even worse if Cena is expected to win.

And it certainly is. Dolph Lundgren and Scott Atkins battle to find a giant gecko in China. Shot in glorious 3D, and then repurposed for home audiences, this movie had SyFy Channel movie potential, if only it was combined with a porcupine or Yeti.

Two movies titled Bulletproof enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Nick Gariano, and Robert Rau watch a decent Adam Sandler/Damon Wayans movie — and Gary Busey yell “butt horn” a lot — to determine which film should be called Bulletproof.

Gary Busey’s 1988 version is trying really hard to be Leathal Weapon, this time starring a real crazy person. Busey does his own surgery, dreams of playing the saxaphone, and rolls down a hill on a giant spool. There was a genuine mixed reaction to the movie, considering everyone but Robert hated it, but at least the title was accurate. Not only does Busey survive numerous gunshots, he collects the bullets in a jar in the bathroom.

The Adam Sandler/Damon Wayans comedy was very familiar to Nick, since he had seen it six months ago. Herman and Robert could remember seeing the movie, but couldn’t actually tell you anything about it. Considering Sandler has a pretty low bar set these days, it is refreshing to watch something that can be somewhat enjoyable. The only thing wrong was the title. Damon gets shot early on, but can one shot beat out 39 from the previous movie? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled The Bodyguard enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis and Robert Rau watch a two-hour Whitney Houston video and Kung Fu Panda’s Grandpa to determine which film should be called The Bodyguard.

First up is the seventh-highest grossing movie of 1992 starring the radiant Whitney Houston and the less radiant Kevin Costner. While the movie needs about 30 minutes shaved off, it does have the benefit of being about a bodyguard-type situation, considering there is a specific body to guard.

For the second movie, Robert accidentally read the wrong plot description because there were two The Bodyguard  movies released this year overseas. He and Herman still picked the one with Sammo Hung, the Steven Seagal of Chinese cinema. He plays an ex-military officer with dementia and a three-foot fighting radius. While this movie was more entertaining, it did have a lack of actual body guarding. Will this force our hand, or will the better movie prevail? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled Sabotage enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Mike Honore, and Robert Rau watch another Mark Dacascos action thrill ride — and a two-year-old Arnold Schwarzenegger movie most people have already forgotten about — to determine which should be called Sabotage.

Sure, there’s a Hitchcock movie of the same name, but we couldn’t turn down another Mark Dacascos movie since Drive blew our minds. And even though this one isn’t as good, it does have some great performances from “Candyman” Tony Todd and a pre-Matrix Carrie-Anne Moss. Also, apologies for the sample trailer, the only one we could find was in German.

The second Sabotage spared no expense on the cast, breaking out some A-list talent and A-list gore. Arnold Schwarzenegger leads this bunch of ragamuffins into the gritty Atlanta streets to stop meth rings and the Mexican cartel, that is until they start getting killed in the grossest way possible. Will the buckets of blood beat out a watchable 90’s action movie?
