Women belong in ministry. Full stop. Sadly, this is not a statement that is supported by everyone within the Christian faith. So how do we respond to those who disagree with us, quoting scripture in the process?
This week we invite Pastor Sandra McIntosh to the podcast to talk to us about just that. With over 40 years of ministry experience, she provides us with mountains of biblical examples of women in ministry. This episode will be sure to uplift and encourage every believer to support women called into pastoral ministry.
Here are some of the biblical examples mentioned in today's podcast:
In the Old Testament, Sarah births a nation at the age of 90.
Jochebed defies the Pharaoh to rescue her son.
Miriam prophesies and sings over a fledgling nation.
Deborah commands armies as the chief prophet and judge in the land.
Jael assassinates the enemy.
Jehosheba preserves the lineage of David.
Huldah was a prophetess who instructs the king.
Queen Esther saves her people.
In the New Testament, an unwed girl accepts a divine, dangerous assignment that changes the course of human history.
Anna becomes the first evangelist, prophesying that the Messiah has come.
Mary lavishes her inheritance on the Messiah’s feet.
Women were the last at the cross when his other disciples had fled.
The women at the tomb are the first to testify of Christ’s resurrection. When women’s testimony wasn’t considered valued in the culture and Jesus told them on purpose – he was saying your testimony is valid.
