Richmond Flying Squirrels multi-position veteran Shane Matheny is my guest on this week’s podcast. In his second year with Richmond, Shane has been among the league leaders in several offensive categories, while hitting .297/.429/.530 with a 162 wRC+. According to manager Dennis Pelfrey, Matheny has been a leader for the Squirrels team, both on the field and in the clubhouse. Shane and I talk about the dramatic conclusion to the first half, celebrating their entry to the playoffs, and his progress through the Giants’ system and developing his game, offensively and defensively.
