In this episode of Fantasy for the Ages, I’m counting down the 25 longest-running fantasy and science fiction series ever published, ranking them by the span between the first and most recent novels. From beloved classics to modern epics that still refuse to end, these are the series that have entertained readers across generations.

We’ll explore legendary worlds, prolific authors, surprising entries, and a few series that may still have many years left in them. Whether you’re looking for your next massive reading project or simply want to marvel at the dedication of these authors (and readers!), there’s plenty here to discover.
