As always, thank you for being a part of Georgia’s community. This fight would be rough without you.1 min - Two Funerals*EDITORS NOTE* In this episode I mistakenly give the date June 18th as her second funeral. She was buried on June 17th, 1998. I know it's a small detail, but details matter.
On October 24th, 1997 Mourners gathered from all over the county to attend Georgia’s funeral.
Then on June 17th of the following year, she was finally buried with no family in attendance. Someone made sure that was the case. Someone made sure that no one in Georgia’s immediate family knew about the burial. But who? … And why?

This fight would be rough without you.33 min - Where Was Georgia?Georgia was last seen on August 13th, 1997 and in the time between the last sighting and her body being found it seemed that no one knew to look for her. But is that really the case?
Surely someone had to know something was wrong… Someone had to know that she was not where she was expected to be. But the more people we talk to the more we realize that “Where was Georgia?” is a question that goes back months before her murder.

Initially, the police and coroner believed their Jane Doe was a woman, given that she had been found nude and was sexually assaulted.
However, after a telling conversation with a 7-year-old girl and her mother, police come to find out that their Jane Doe is actually the girl’s sister, 12-year-old Georgia Lee Moses.
But… How did no one realize this was a child? And why wasn’t anyone looking for a missing 12 year old?
Nearly 24 years later, a picture is starting to form, but in order to get all the right pieces together we have to start at the very beginning… long before the headlines.
**** Listener note: Some of the clips used in this episode are older recordings made with a cell phone and are slightly distorted in order to remove as much background noise as we could. We apologize if it’s bothersome. Future episodes will not have that issue.****

About They Called Her Georgia Lee...
From the publisher's feed
In August of 1997, 12-year-old Georgia Leah Moses went missing in Santa Rosa, California. Nine days later, her body was discovered along the 101 Freeway in Petaluma, about 20 miles south of her last…
known whereabouts.
In spite of many leads and an eye witness description of the last person she was seen with, no one has been arrested or charged in her abduction, rape, and murder.
After 24 years with no movement in the case, Angel (Georgia's younger sister) has taken the investigation into her own hands. Since the case is still technically active, resources were limited and information was scarce.
So, in 2020, she started from scratch. Retracing every step and every avenue she could think of to gather information on her own. She began reaching out to friends, family, law enforcement, and the residents of Sonoma County to try and piece together the full picture of Georgia's tragic death.
In October of 2020 I joined Angel in her hunt for justice, hoping that my history in Sonoma County and my father's connection to the Sheriff's department might help us get some footing with those who have been holding on to her case all this time. But honestly, it was a long shot to begin with, because if next of kin can't get a straight answer, then how would I?
Although there are many hurdles facing us, we did get some answers and from some pretty unexpected places. However, with every question we checked off our list, more questions arose.
As the months pass and we dig deeper into what was really going on with Georgia in the last year of her life, a story filled with twists, turns and shocking revelations continues to unfold.
