We don't need to tell you it's been a bad, weird year. What we do need to tell you is that there's better ways to end your year than by watching NEW YEAR'S EVE, a bland movie about a holiday we're pretty sure no one cares about this much, and so we'll spend our time reflecting, getting engaged, and planning to get Dr. Dad on the show in 2021 instead of talking about the movie.

Thanks again to all our wonderful listeners for hanging out with us for another year. We couldn't do it without you and it means the world to us, so thank you dearly, and we can't wait to keep going next year.

James Rolfe may have scooped us on the BATMAN RETURNS is a Christmas movie discourse by a couple of days, but we're not going to let that get in the way of our love for him OR our attempt to continue building a genuine Christmas atmosphere in this weird year by galivanting around with a bunch of Tim Burton-y weirdos in a snowy art deco clown violence hellscape that is quite the thing to look at, but ultimately a bit of a mixed bag.

For a lot of obvious reasons, it doesn't really feel like the holidays right now, so we're trying to do our best to artificially create that atmosphere with cinema. One of us is a bit more into Christmas than the other, so they're having an easier time, but ELF: BUDDY'S MUSICAL CHRISTMAS has big buckled shoes to fill if it wants to become a holiday classic -- is the Bazinga Boy up to the task?

We try not to judge things by their cover on this show, or in this case, by their memes. As it happens, there's a lot more to SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT PART 2 if you're willing to get it a chance: a simultaneously resourceful and fascinating opening narrative structure, clever interweaving of previous material, uncanny strangeness in the lead character, bizarre tonal shifts, and the makings of something potentially spectacular. Then the trash truly gets taken out, and you can draw your own conclusions from there.

Note: to suit the occasion, we also did something stylistically bold, as Corey was forced to record this in an underground bunker into a tin can while marooned on an island. Thanks a lot Clancy Brown or Ellen or whoever we're feuding with, but jokes on you! Adversity brings out our best chuckles, eyebrows, and buffness.
