2023 marks the 50 year anniversary of what is widely accepted and agreed upon as the birth of hip hop, August 11, 1973. We are celebrating those 50 years with a series of conversations with some our favorite podcasts. With hip hop being the most influential and dominant musical genre of the past two decades or so, we believe it's important to reflect on its rich history and evolution. Throughout this series, we will be joined by guests who will share their thoughts and experiences. From their earliest hip hop memories to their thoughts on the current state of affairs, this series will take a fun look at hip hop and its impact on society and culture.
In this episode, we are joined by Jay Ray and DJ Sir Daniel from the Queue Points Podcast. The conversation starts with us discussing their hip hop entry points and how it pulled them in. We talked about the artists, albums and moments that made them fall in love with hip hop.
We end the episode with a game that we call "This or That?", where we presented Jay Ray and Sir Daniel with two options and they had to choose between them. The choices ranged from two classic hype men, to which city has the better rappers, Atlanta or Philly.
