They had heard about the church for years, the kind of place people bring up just often enough to make you wonder if there’s something to it.

By the time they actually went, none of them really believed it.

And at first, it felt exactly the way they expected. Quiet, ordinary, nothing about it standing out beyond the stories attached to it. They walked the cemetery, circled the building, and started to treat it like just another place people had built up over time.
