With the uptake of the vaccines being low among the black and other racialised communities in the UK, we ask the question why? Shining light on some of the historical medical misgivings and modern healthcare inequalities which have set the stage for hesitancy, we take a deeper look at the situation of the present. Question include - how has the vaccine been produced so quickly? Were there people of colour included in the trials? What is the link between the vaccine and fertility? What’s in the Covid vaccines and how do they work? What are the side affects?
Our guests are Dr Rahma Elmahdi a researcher and doctor, passionate about decolonising medicine, who worked on Covid wards in the UK, Anita Kaur Thind the founder of The Pretty Parcel, and a young person speaking up about the realities of living with Long Covid, and Dr Vanessa Apea, a sexual health consultant, and an advocate for reducing inequalities in healthcare, particularly for marginalised communities along the intersections of race and gender.

With a special focus on how the viral #EndSARS hashtag has helped galvanize people to demand justice for the people of Nigeria, we talk with Chioma Agwuegbo, and discuss the state of unrest between the police and people all over the world.
Whether it is chaperoning young, first-time women politicians, co-creating solutions for sexual and gender-based violence, or curating sessions on digital security, Chioma believes that technology not applied is not useful. Chioma’s foray into advocacy began with the Light Up Nigeria Movement in 2008. Since then, she has functioned in leadership teams for campaigns such as Enough is Enough, Gen Voices, Occupy Nigeria, Bring Back Our Girls, Not Too Young To Run, and now, StateofEmergencyGBV.

We will talk about what love is: from drawing an understanding of self love, to questioning the ways we treat romantic and platonic relationships, and looking at models of love that do not conform to heteronormative frameworks like polyamory and open relationships. Joining us on this episode is Louissin Torah and Jared Phillipo the creative producers of Pinky Promise, a collective of ethical hedonists who seek to create sensual theatrical experiences for pleasure seekers to connect, express and dance. Also speaking to us on this show is Janet W. Hardy the co-author of The Ethical Slut, a Practical Guide to Polyamory, Open Relationships & Other Adventures.
