Today’s episode is one that I believe all women need to listen to - because the rates of breast cancer in Australia and around the world are increasing and they are affecting women of all ages. 

To have this conversation, I invited specialist breast surgeon Dr Jasmina Kevric - who operates from leading hospitals including Epworth and Cabrini in Melbourne. 

Dr Jasimina Kevric speaks to us today about the different types of breast cancer, the stages and grades that determine the diagnosis and the treatment that is offered for each different type of cancer. 

This is information that is vital to understanding what is happening to you and your body - if you are diagnosed, and I hope this will be a valuable resource to so many women who may have sat in their surgeon or oncologists office, and barely heard anything their doctor told them, after the words “you have breast cancer” were shared because it is common that everything said after that moment is  a blur!

This is not just for women who are or have experienced a diagnosis - it is also for partners and friends who want to understand it more and this is for all women who want to empower themselves with knowledge to decrease and even prevent their risks of breast cancer AND it is for for those who want more information about the increase in diagnosis during the perimenopause and menopausal ages and how we can safely treat menopause without putting ourselves at further risk. 

Dr Jasmina herself has such an interesting and inspiring personal story - which we also share in this chat — from arriving in Australia as a refugee to becoming a leading female surgeon dedicated to supporting women through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Ellie Cole is one of Australia’s most decorated Paralympians — but this conversation isn’t about medals.

Diagnosed with cancer at just three years old, Ellie underwent a leg amputation before she even formed memories of her early childhood. What followed was not just survival — but an extraordinary sporting career spanning four Paralympic Games and 17 medals, including six gold.
