Dr. Matthew Lamm serves as the HBU Director of Bands and Instrumental Studies and Assistant Professor of Music. He attended the University of Houston as an undergraduate and went on to DePaul University in Chicago for graduate studies. He completed his doctoral degree from U of H. Lamm and the HBU Music Department faculty shape musicians through individualized instruction.  

Kathy Bilyeu is a native Houstonian, a Navy veteran, and currently serves as the HBU Fine Arts Museum Director. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Houston, and a Master of Fine Arts at HBU. She also has a computer design degree and spent three years studying painting at a private school in Italy. Kathy is an Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at HBU; she teaches several graduate and undergraduate studio art classes, as well as art history. 

Anthony Suber is completing his Master of Fine Arts at HBU. Anthony has taught fine arts for almost two decades, 15 of which have been at the Kinkaid School. He is one of the founding members of the nonprofit arts organization, The Black Man Project, in Houston. Anthony was recently selected to exhibit a public sculpture for True North 2021, a collection of regional contemporary art in the Houston Heights. 

Callie Smith is the HBU Online Director of Marketing and Recruitment. She oversees the planning and implementation of a comprehensive marketing strategy for the division that spans across multiple media channels, as well as branding, design and copywriting. Callie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Liberty University. She joined HBU in early spring of 2017 with the launch of the online division and has enjoyed contributing to and watching the growth of the online programs.  

The Pampell Online Division offers more than 30 100% online graduate and undergraduate programs to accommodate students with demanding family and work schedules, with small, highly interactive classes and dedicated faculty mentors to ensure a personalized academic experience and enhanced opportunities for every student to succeed.

 

Edward Pollard is a native Houstonian and serves as the District J Representative for the Houston City Council. He is the owner of Pollard Legal Group, LLC, and cofounder of Suits for Success. Edward received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College, and a law degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He and his wife Vanessa have two children. 

Preston Sharp is a Practical Theology major at HBU, scheduled to graduate in 2022. He has served as a student missionary and is involved in Kaleo Discipleship. Preston is a worship leader and seeks to continually grow personally and spiritually as he encourages others to grow as well. 

Ryan Pratt is the HBU head men’s soccer coach since 2017. Pratt explains, “While soccer is rare at the Division I level in Texas, it is the world’s most popular game! Soccer is thriving in Texas at all levels – professional, college, high school and club – and I am very excited and humbled to have the opportunity to do what I love at an institution like HBU!” Coach Pratt helps develop players who perform at their highest potential and has led the team to achieve multiple honors. 

Cody James Harrington is the HBU Coordinator of International and Veteran Student Services. The Office of International and Veteran Student Services works with students, ensuring they are in compliance with legal requirements and are served effectively. Cody was an airborne paratrooper in the US Army from 2004 to 2012. As a Biblical Studies major while at HBU, Cody focused on professional development in Christian ethics and principles as the foundation for his character. He believes that a degree will give you a job, but character will give you a calling.

Whit Goodwin is the HBU Associate Provost for Student Life. He has oversight of the University’s Student Life area including Spiritual Life, Discipleship Programs, Student Involvement and Leadership, First and Second-Year Experiences, First-Year Seminar class, Residence Life, Student Organizations, Student Conduct, the HBU Bradshaw Fitness Center and Campus Recreation. 

Sisters Anna and Enya Maguire play as guards on the HBU women’s basketball team. Anna is a senior majoring in international business and Enya is a freshman majoring in kinesiology. From Belfast, Northern Ireland, the Maguires both like traveling and enjoy sports including basketball, netball and field hockey.
