Black women are now the most educated group in the United States.
We’re pursuing higher education in record numbers. So, if you’re currently pursuing an advanced degree (or you’re considering it)...you’ll want to continue tuning in because my special guest is here to help you successfully navigate your grad school journey as a Black woman.
Today’s special guest Thought Leader is Dr. Malika Grayson. She’s a speaker, author and educator who specializes in STEM and advocates for women of color navigating their profession.
Dr. Grayson is only the SECOND Black woman graduate to earn a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University.
After conquering many challenges throughout her journey, she developed the Black Girls’ Guide to Grad School to help increase the number of Black women who graduate with advanced degrees by sharing helpful tips, advice and offering mentorship.
As a speaker, she focuses on helping her audiences understand how to navigate grad school, build their network, cancel imposter syndrome - all while advocating for increasing diversity and representation in the STEM fields.
Her work in STEM has led to her being named one of the Trinidad and Tobago’s 40 Under 40 Youth Influencers by the country’s Ministry of Youth and Sports affairs.
Her newest book, Hooded: A Black Girl’s Guide to the PhD offers an account of surviving and thriving as a doctoral candidate.
And she’s here to today to share her brilliant insights with us.
