Thinking Outside The Long Box

Straight from Gabe's basement, the three of us bring you magic, in this 28th episode of the Thinking Outside the Long Box Podcast. We interview three amazing people, and get to listen to Jon while he readies the Hall of Justice!!

While Jon is busy bagging and boarding THOUSANDS of back issue comic books, Gabe and Juan get to enjoy the sultry cooking of Mel, from Gabe's basement! All of your favorite TV shows, movies, and comic books are back with a BANG!! When the three of us get together, anything can happen, and you'll never think of the song Scatman, the same again!!

Aside from the awesome conversation with each other, we also have three amazing interviews!! The first interview comes from Alex Paknadel, the writer of BOOM! Studios' Arcadia! This interview is so different from most of the interviews we do, and that is a good thing!! Not only do we talk about BOOM! and Arcadia, but we also find out a lot about Alex' views of the whole world in general, especially when it comes to technology. We find out that Alex is a soon to be father, and what gross things he's most afraid of!

Interview number two, is joining us for a second time, after having been interviewed for our Fort Collins Comic Con episode. Kaai, of Nerd 2 Go Magazine, joins us at the podcast table, metaphorically.......This magazine sounds absolutely amazing!! It doesn't focus on only one aspect of nerd culture, and this is what makes it great!! You'll get an inside look at comic books, cosplay, table top games, and so much more!! The first issue will hit in January, and we will definitely be one of the first to ensure we read it!! Plus, maybe look for us in the magazine in the future!

Our last interview is with Russ Lippitt. He is the brainchild, and writer, behind The Showdown! It is an amazing mix of cars, and horror! Why are all of these famous monsters holding races in Hell? The only way to know that amazing answer, is to make sure you go check out this book! Trust me, you won't want to miss out on all the antics that go down in the inferno!!

Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! You can send mp3s and email to our email address. Also, join the conversations on our Facebook Page and Twitter Page. Also, if you have good feedback, please leave it for us on iTunes and Stitcher!! That's one way to help us climb the ranks into podcast glory!!

From the luxurious basement of Gabe, we bring you the 27th episode of the Thinking Outside the Long Box podcast!! The Godfather of podcasts and savior to us all, will also be joining us in this episode!

With Jon's grand opening looming closely, he is still away opening up what will be one of the best comic book shops in Colorado!! While he is doing that, the show must go on! Today, after a WHOLE year of being on the airwaves, we bring in Albie, the Godfather to us all!! He is the creator of Barren Space Productions!! Without him, you wouldn't get to hear us three idiots chatting about nerd culture all the time!! Albie tells us all about ALL of his projects!! His first, of course, is how I got into podcasting, via the Quantum Leap Podcast! Then of course we speak about A Conversation with Albie, Bedtime with Bruce, and his next BIG project, the Back to the Future Podast: The Animated Series. THAT promised to be an exciting series, which dropped 6 episodes on "Back to the Future" day!! Subscribe here... Also Have Albie edit your stuff! podcastforyou.com

Aside from the awesome conversation with Albie, as always Gabe and I bring you the most awesome/latest news in TV/Movies!! We talk a LOT about about a few different things, plus Gabe tells us all about his satanic rituals! Super weird crazy stuff!!

From the first year of FOCO Comic Con, we bring you this 26th episode of the Thinking Outside the Long Box podcast!! It just so happens to be the anniversary of our podcast!! That's right, this is officially 1 year together as the coolest pop culture podcast ever!!

While Jon is away at the Ska Brewing anniversary event in Durango, Gabe and Juan hold down the fort at the comic con! From what we were told, the Ska Brewing event was a success, and we hopefully will hear some audio from that show in the next episode!!

As is typical at the comic cons, we don't normally have "interviews" scheduled! But, we do have some awesome conversations with people who are at the show!! As you've heard us tout many times, we are part of an amazing comic book group here in Colorado, aptly named the Colorado Comic Book Enthusiasts! We have a great conversation with Nathaniel, Keith, and Jason! If you live in Colorado, and love comic books, you should definitely look us up!!

HOLY cow do we have some other awesome conversations!! The Comicstorian drops by to drop some comic knowledge on us, and plus their videos are hilarious!! We also hear from Kaai in Cosplay, who is developing Nerd2Go magazine, which sounds like something I want to read, and something you need to be looking into! We are sitting next to Arachna from Beware Theater, and she talks to us all about the amazing black and white movies, that were so bad they were awesome! We also have a short (PA guys was SUPER loud), but great conversation with Saro Hang. Saro is a local Colorado artist, who is also part of Red Team Go Colorado! This is a group of writers, artists, designers, etc. who get together and encourage/help each other. Definitely a tight nit group who is looking to do nothing but push each other to be the best!

Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!! Straight from Juan's semi-finished basement!! We bring you a thrilling 25th episode of the Thinking Outside the Long Box Podcast!!

Jon jumps on the line with us while he is driving to his next convention!! While Jon is doing his convention circuit, to liven up the show a little bit, we bring in a special guest! Dirty from Bedtime with Bruce, another Barren Space production, joins us via Skype!! He tells us a little bit about their late night talk show, and how it's the #1 rated late night show, featuring men in pajamas! It's a fun watch for sure! Things get Dirty as he tells us all about the current things he is reading, and we also steal a special segment from Bedtime with Bruce, about "old" people!

We also have two awesome interviews!! The first comes from a Dark Horse legend!! Mr. Scott Allie drops by to inform us about all things Dark Horse. Scott worked his way up the ladder from the very bottom rung, and it is a truly inspiring story!! He tells us what is was like to work on the Archie VS Predator book, and a little bit of insight into Cheval Noir!! He runs down some of the philosophical differences between Dark Horse, and some other companies, and just seems super excited to be there! What an amazing company!!

Our second interview comes from Japanese folklore expert, Zack Davisson!! Talk about an upbeat guy, Zack is a VERY positive person, and you can tell he has a passion for what he does!! He tells us all about how in love with folklore he was, that he moved to Japan to study more!! Zack is an "award winning translator, writer, and scholar of Japanese folklore and ghosts!! Aside from this, he is also a comic book guy! He writes all the back matter for the comic book, Wayward. He also tells us about some of the other books that he reads!!

He tells us about the ups and the downs that came out of 30 Days of Night, it's such an interesting look at it from a side most fans never get to see/hear. He also tells us why it's dumb for Gabe to assume that left handed people draw any different from right handed people.................Don't forget to stop off at 44FLOOD where you can find some of Ben's projects, as well as store to find EXCLUSIVE Templesmith products!! It's an amazing website!

Our last interview comes from local artist Jason Meents!! Jason does some great artwork, that is also super family friendly!! The first time that the three of us have been together in a while, and it is a turbulent episode to say the least! From the long box cavern we bring you episode 22!!

This episode still spills over some news that came out of San Diego Comic Con, and we get to hear some cool stories from Jon in person. We talk about all of the TV shows and movies of course! Gabe hates on Suicide Squad, BUT does find that hating on X-Men seems to be a better fit for him. The "fan theory" portion of the show gives us a little turbulence that ends the show in a rather weird way.

Our first interview comes Jack Holder of Arcane Inkdustries! Jack tells us all about his comic book "Spells and Taxes." It's a very cool fairy tale style book, with a few twists and turns that help break down a few different walls. You'll love the princess and the frog twist, it's hilarious!!

Our second interview comes from John Reilly and Tom Rogers!! They bring us "Herald: Lovecraft & Tesla" which is a fantasy story that teams up Nikola Tesla and HP Lovecraft on their search for Amelia Earhart! It's an awesome book that has already landed in Juan's pull with his LCS. We also learn that we might be seeing this comic book come to life in the future as well.............

Remember, you can ALWAYS let us know what you think! We can only think of so many things to talk about every other week, and would LOVE to get some feedback and ideas from all of you out there who are listening!!
