In this episode Mary interviews her husband, Tom, a veteran with ALS, on being a care recipient. In the early 1990's long before Tom was diagnosed with ALS he had a serious brain infection, encephalitis. The infection left Tom with cognitive impairments which are as evident today as they were decades ago. In 2010 Tom was diagnosed with ALS.
