There’s a tension Shawna lives with that wears on her. And being honest, there are days that she feels like it’s going to break her.

But in a recent trip to Shawna’s home church in California she was flooded with memories of significant moments in her life that happened there. And she was reminded that God’s writing her story. He’s got a plan and a purpose for her life and yours, even now.

Then, Shawna’s worried about many things. A constant distraction taking up brain space. As she was reading the story of Mary and Martha she was reminded of Jesus’ words, “Mary chose what is better.” And she realized that we get to choose whether to worry or be captivated by every word of Jesus.

Perry dusted off a song he wrote decades ago called “Pure In Heart.” When he wrote it all those years ago he knew there was a motivation in him to do ministry for God and make it all about him. And it’s still in him. But he’s finding the way forward to do ministry for God and make it about him.

Actions speak louder than words. In a conversation Jesus had with an expert in the law Jesus turned the conversation from what the man knew intellectually to how he lived. Makes Shawna wonder, “Is my life a reflection of what I know about God?”

And last, sin rips us off. Keeps us from living a life that is full. And we can be tempted to think, “That’s just the way it is.” But we can come to a place of dependence where you take a risky step and tap into a power you didn’t realize was there!
