On the evening of Tuesday, August 7, 1979, at least three tornadoes touched down in southwestern Ontario, devastating several farms and homes in the Woodstock area.

The Atlantic provinces in Canada average barely 1 tornado per year. Yet, on August 6th, 1879, the people of Bouctouche realized that tornadoes can happen anywhere in Canada, so long as the conditions are right.
