Brother Seye continues his exposition on the book of Hebrews as he addresses chapters 1 through 2 to show us that the Son is superior and more excellent than angels.

The imagery of angelic manifestation to the fathers by the prophets will not have been lost on the Hebrew Christians, thereby being a means to aid their rejection of Jesus and return to Judaism

But if the word spoken through angels was binding such that every transgression received a just recompense, HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE NEGLECT SO GREAT A SALVATION, which the LORD JESUS first announced?

This is the heart cry of the writer of Hebrews

In the second part of this series, Brother Sam emphasizes wisdom as being distinct from intelligence. Much of what the world commemorates as ‘wisdom’ is no wisdom at all, but a high Intelligence/Emotional Quotient at best. The world’s system rewards a cunning, scheming, manipulative person for being “wise”, but the Bible calls such wisdom earthly, unspiritual and demonic (James 3:13-18). True, biblical wisdom is to be an infant in evil.

True wisdom substantiates itself in this way:

~ Discerning between good and evil

~ Doing the will of God

~ Applying righteousness in every area of your life

Brother Seye begins a teaching series for the midweek services on the book of Hebrews.

He starts with a background to the book, making a case for its canonicity, orthodoxy, and necessity for the church of God in the 21st century. This puts to rest any aspersions cast on its authorship as the basis for rejecting it as authoritative.

He handles 2 key points. Who wrote the book and who was it addressed to.

He then goes into the first bone of contention in Hebrews 1; the Son is superior. He shows that the prophets' writings and prophecies had found their fulfilment in the Superior One.  The Son!

Brother Sam begins a new teaching series on Christian wisdom and ethics.

The Bible instructs us to be wise as serpents yet harmless as doves.

In this first part of the series, Brother Sam tells us what wisdom is in the Christian faith. Wisdom is to understand the will of the Lord and live in it. It is to do what God wants in the way God wants it done.

The value of wisdom is not in the value of gold or riches it brings you, but in how much in the will of God you live.

Wisdom is “applied sanctification.” To live a meaningful life in this world for Christ, you need to be wise.

As you proceed in this series, we hope it aids you to walk more in sanctification in every good endeavour.

Brother Glory exhorts us from the Book of Revelation to be faithful as Jesus calls for to the 7 churches.

Brother Glory uses the instruction to the seven churches as recorded in the book of Revelations to reproof, correct and instruct us in righteousness

Brother Sam concludes the series on Galatians in chapter 6

He emphasises something poignant in verses 1-3; how we handle fallen brethren in the church of our Lord.

An understanding that we are comrades with brokenness with those who err helps us to administer Christian judgement on matters. For Christians, judgement is restorative. It seeks to restore those who have fallen.

We realize we can be gentle but firm, ruthless but just.

Secondly, Brother Sam expounds on Christian comparison and shows us that our ultimate pleasure is God; therefore, we look to God as we strive in our walk with Him in view of His plans for us. This kills comparison. As in the parable of the talents, the Lord apportions to each one, and we will give an account of what the Lord gave us.

In verses 1-6, Paul reminds the Galatians of the freedom they have received and calls the works of the law to justify bondage/slavery.

Brother Sam shows us that anyone who wants to be justified by the works of the law has cut themselves off from grace.

In verse 10, Brother Sam shows us that people who pervert the gospel will see the Lord's judgement, telling us that a tiny deviation from the truth Is not a tiny problem but has grave implications for God's flock

Then Brother Sam goes on to explain the walk of the spirit; contrasting this with the work of the flesh.

Galatians 4

Brother Sam continues his exposé on the book of Galatians in the series.

From verses 1–8, he shows the necessity of the law to show the exceeding sinfulness of man. And the law, though binding on Israel, could not annul the covenant with Abraham that has already been set - justification by faith

He also explains that the heart cry of the Christian “abba father” is an inner experience every Christian has that can’t be proven and in which they all know they are children of God.

Why? For Christianity is not just a superior idea that’s simply better for the outworking of a society BUT an encounter and relationship with the Godhead.

Verses 8-20.

He explains that paul shows the effect of people who want to make the Galatians (by extension us) zealous for the law. But zeal misapplied is meaningless and fruitless in the sight of God. A zeal for legalism is not pleasing to God.

Verses 21-31.

Brother Sam shows us that we are children of the free woman and not the slave. For Zion is our home. We are children of faith and of Sarah whose conception of Isaac was of the promise.
