Episode 26 The One after the derbi

So another derbi came and went and it will have to be in the 13th year when we end the draught of victories against Real Madrid. Despite a solid start from the team with a stunning play and goal by reality-rather-than-promise Adrián the team conceded two penalties that had two red cards attached leaving a shameful 4-1 on the scoreboard. Much can be said about the referee but we found Manzano mostly to blame...again. We summoned our good friend Joakim Jonsson (@joakimjnsson on Twitter) colchonero friend and contributor to www.svenskafans.com and MadridAtleticos to give us his view on the derbi.

We also have Andy Muirhead from the prestigious Scotzine (@scotzine on Twitter) to talk about the match ahead versus Celtic and give us insight on what Atleti will find on Wednesday at Celtic Park. Rayo, the goalkeeper dilemma, giggling Reyes among other topics. Sit back, listen and enjoy to your weekly Atleti in English!

Episode 25 The One before the derbi

Ok, so we won, big deal! The crew isn't too happy with the unexciting win over Levante 3-2. Manzano's team bored the rival during an hour and then when supporters really gor tired of the situation and reminded Manzano he had la Perla growing cobwebs in the bench so him, Adrián, Pizzi and the rest of the team managed to barely get away with a win in a 15 minute frenzy where 4 goals were scored, 3 on our side. We also talk in depth derbi pre match analysis. We're heading for quite a ride next Saturday and we just hope our players and manager are up to the challenge.

Episode 24 The One when Manzano got sentenced

So right when we thought we where getting out of the deep mud we slip again and all looks gloomier than ever. After a promising 4-0 win versus Udinese we were unable to defeat Getafe who played a whole hour with a man less! Shameful Atlético that leaves Manzano walking the tightrope with no nets below. Just the international breaks, the lack of solid substitutes and how close the derbi is seem to have saved Gregorio...at least for now. To explain all this and to raise the level of the show As reporter Dani Hidalgo joins us. Always a pleasure to have good knowledgeable friends like Dani to give us insight about what his newspaper is running as news and even more interesting, the nitty gritty gossipy stories we seldom hear about. Here it comes again, your favorite rojiblanco show.

Episode 23 The One when we don't get carried away.

So we won but yet the feeling of having lost so many points during October still weigh on our spirits. We talk about Manzano's solid match point save winning Zaragoza 3-1 after being defeated again on a game away at Bilbao by a harming 3-0 with a horrible second half. Supporters are far from being happy and chants against the coach from Jaen have already arisen. Meanwhile Reyes had a run in with Gregorio due to not agreeing with a substitution. La Perla is known for his difficult character and might prove a time bomb for Manzano. Plus very last minute interest of Villarreal in snatching Adrián. Listen to it all here on this week's episode.

Episode 22 The One with more questions than answers.

We invited Florian Tiemann (@flooo09 on Twitter) from our beloved German Peña (Centuria Germana) to spend some time with us discussing the disappointing Udinese and Mallorca matches. A loss and a draw that leave too many questions in the air starting with how solid the ground that Manzano steps upon actually is.

We also had the immense privilege of having a nice prematch chat with Tim Stannard (a.k.a. @LaLigaLoca) who give us his always fresh, unbiased and analytical on Atleti, madrilean teams and La Liga in general so far this season.

Gary, our Gary, and Julio Megia from the Spanish Esto es Atleti podcast interview Diego Costa with a more than juicy headline: Falcao isn't like Kun...refering to Radamel's need of being surronded by good passers to do his job. We called him to wish him well during his recovery period but he ended up cheering us up with his energy and mental stregth. Diego Costa, not the most elegant striker you've seen but definitely a brave man and player.

21 - The One after the break

Again from the inside of Gary's car and connecting with Derek from Holland we recorded the podcast the day after the disappointing draw versus Granada. The podcast is recorded in fact in the parking lot of the Atlético "Cerro del Espino" training facilities at Majadahonda. We give our views of the always dangerous international breaks. This time Salvio, Silvio and Arda came back injured. The team restarted the la Liga end of October sprint unsteadily but has to find the way of get results in the two weeks to come where we face Udinese away in the Europa League while we receive Mallorca and Zaragoza and travel to Bilbao for 3 Liga games in 8 days. Make or break for the rojiblancos. Join us for another on the road episode!

20 - The One with Martin

After the shameful defeat versus Barça, Atleti had another challenging week ahead where as Gary predicted Atlético de Madrid struggled at Rennes and only managed to scrape a last minute draw versus Stade. On Sunday Atletico also drew nil nil against Sevilla in a typical underground fouly match full of yellow cards. Gary had a nice prematch chat with Paul Wilkes from La Liga UK, Cristian from Centuria Germana, MadridAtleticos most recent writer Florian and probably the first Atleti blogger in English Kevin from the Belgian Peña. We also had on the show again Martin Rosenow from AtleticoFans to give us his views in a specially early morning edition of the show. We hope you enjoy it.

Episode19 - Life after Barça (the One when we woke up from the dream)

Post shock group therapy. We release the anger and frustration of a humbling 5-0 defeat vs Barcelona with a brilliant Messi and a stunning Xavi that needed no more than 25 minutes to knock us senseless. A baffling defensive line up and a general bad player and system selection had most spotlights on Manzano as the one to blame. We discuss the game in full detail and the upcoming challenges of this week versus Rennes at the away match of the Europa League and a tough home match versus Sevilla an direct opponent in our race to reach a spot in Champions League for the next season.

Episode18 - The One before Barça.

We receive Centuria Germana peña president André Kahle still in the middle of the excitement for the great football displayed versus Racing and Sporting with identical 4-0 wins, added to the easy 2-0 win over Celtics in the first round of Europa League and 6 goals by newly born local idol Radamel Falcao.

André gives us an update on the initiative to form a European Association of Peñas and we look ahead to the upcoming match versus Barcelona which should set the trend for the rest of the season as to where the team's expectations stand.

Gary is on a bad backache and couldn't make it in ship shape for the program. We send him our best wishes for a fast recovery and hope he's on the next show.
