  • 54: How To and Why You Should Get Rid of Your Stuff
Jasmine Milligan Cividino is Reno's only certified KonMari consultant. That may or may not mean something to you, but for me, her business of helping people get rid of their stuff was life changing. For her, too: "Around the time that I discovered (Marie Kondo's) The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up, my life was in need of change," she writes. "I was a divorced single mother of five years and had been the head of a small business for 11 years. The significant responsibilities involved in running a household and a company were wearing me down. I no longer knew what made me happy or how to enjoy the company of my friends and family."My situation was different, but we both had a similar problem: too much stuff. Listen below to find out how "decluttering" or "tidying-up" worked for me, and why. Contact Jasmine at 775-636-4019.

  • Solutions 05: Season Finale
There is no silver bullet that will solve homelessness. But there are many solutions that can reduce houselessness. Our 5th episode, and the finale of our first season, covers some of what Reno locals are doing -- and recommending -- to solve the city's homeless crisis. We speak with houseless individuals, advocates, Reno's chief of police, and nonprofits about what can be done. We also visit Washoe County's Crossroads program, which has a high success rate but a lengthy waiting list. Solutions #5 relied heavily on the following sources:1. "A History of Homelessness in America," a presentation by Steve Carlson, Psy.D. 2. "The History of Homeless in America, 1640s to present" by Downtown Congregations to End Homelessness. http://www.dceh.org/the-history-of-homelessness-in-america-1640s-to-present/3. "Homelessness in America" by the National Alliance to End Homelessness. https://endhomelessness.org/homelessness-in-america/4. "Amid booming economy, homelessness soars on US West Coast." Associated Press, Nov. 9, 2017. https://www.apnews.com/d480434bbacd4b028ff13cd1e7cea1555. "Driven Out." Pacific Standard. July 31, 2017. https://psmag.com/social-justice/driven-out6. "Bussed Out: How America moves its homeless." The Guardian UK, Dec. 20, 2017. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2017/dec/20/bussed-out-america-moves-homeless-people-country-study
