In our group of friends, we always talk about 2006 being potentially the greatest year in music. So many great albums were all released in this year. 

Do we think it is objectively an incredible year or are we biased because we were growing up at this time? 

Here’s the list we compiled of albums to mention. There were many more popular artists that released albums this year (The Who, The Strokes, Willie Nelson, Morrissey, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and of course High School Musical 1) but we might not be fans of their music or the album wasn’t necessarily one of their most notable.

The thing that makes this year so insane is that its not just a bunch of great artists releasing music, but its a bunch of great artists releasing arguably the best album of their career. (Mayer, AVA, RHCP, MCR, Muse, Arctic Monkeys) 

Jake mentioned he feels like it might be gearing up to be a similar year this year in terms of huge names releasing albums. 

If you haven't heard yet already: comedian, writer, actor, director Bo Burnham put out a new... something. We had a good chat about it and answer questions such as:

is Bo "acting" out real emotion?  is "acting" emotion the same thing as actually feeling emotion?

is putting constraints on ourselves for our work good or bad?

Is it a comedy special, a documentary, a musical, performance art?

We also talk about how Make Happy, his last comedy special, changed our opinions on him and our initial impressions while watching Inside for the first time.

We talk about Bo's evolution as a songwriter and which songs from this special were our favorites. And also how being able to dissect a piece of art is a sign of quality.

You may not know Tyler Kakac but you have probably seen some of his work. Tyler is an animator with credits such as Spies in Disguise, Ice Age: Collision Course, Ferdinand, Over the Moon, and so much more. 

Tyler is also a Carl Junction graduate and Joplin native, and it was such a pleasure to get to sit down and chat with him about animation, the movie industry, and what he's learned so far while working at some pretty awesome animation studios.
