This Shit is Mental

For the This Shit is Mental finale, we reflect on our experience as first-time podcasters. We share our learnings, funny anecdotes and discuss how our approach changed over the course of the season. All in all, it is a really honest conversation between two friends trying out new things! We really hope that this episode might inspire or encourage others who are considering creating a podcast of their own.

Habits are a way for your brain to streamline your day. A habit is something that you perform subconsciously, which means it costs you little energy. Today we talk about both helpful and unhelpful habits, and give tips on making and breaking them. For example, we talk about how different people have different tendencies when it comes to habits, why it's difficult to break habits and strategies for adopting the habits you want and need.

Setting boundaries is a way for us to draw the line in how we allow ourselves and others to treat us. Healthy boundaries are there to protect ourselves and command respect. Just remember that these lines are not set in stone and can always be erased and/or redrawn as needed. 

This episode is a true glimpse into what a usual conversation between us sounds like! We share many examples of what setting boundaries in different contexts may look like and we reflect on why this can be so difficult to do in practice. Moreover, we come to the realisation that often times the little things are what matter the most!

This episode is about a topic that is present in both Rosa's and Chelsea's lives: Anxiety. While anxiety can be a natural response to everyday situations, it becomes problematic when it starts holding you back. One of us struggles more with general anxiety while the other experiences anxiety around a specific theme. In this episode, we get into some thorough research that we hope helps others understand anxiety and learn about steps to take to deal with it. Enjoy!

Learning how to embrace feedback & constructive criticism can be a valuable skill that immensely improves any relationship, be it with colleagues, friends, your partner or even yourself. For the very first episode of This Shit is Mental, we address the elephant in the room: COVID-19 and the effect it has had on everyone's mental health!  We share how we felt during the quarantine as well as some interesting research on how our minds react to such drastic situations: for example, why DID everyone stock up on toilet paper?

Plus, we share some tips on how to better cope with this mental rollercoaster we're all going through!
