It's episode 7 and we've got a serious subject this week. We recorded it on Suicide Prevention Day, so the mood was sombre.
We're talking about how the term 'Mental Health' automatically conjures up bad connotations, when actually everyone has a position on the mental health sliding scale, from excellent' to awful. We offer up some ideas around what you can be doing everyday to keep yourself at the good end of that scale and what you can do if you meet someone at the not so good end.
Below are some numbers and websites of mental health organisations (they're linked, just click the name). You might want to bookmark some or add them in your contacts, in case someone approaches you in their time of need.
Both Dan and Elektra are good listeners if you have something you want to get off your chest. You can get in touch with them either here (for Dan) or here (for Elektra). We can recommend more helpful people too, depending on your situation, so don't be afraid to get in touch if you want to. Dan is also about to open the doors to A Balanced Life Dayhab, a non residential rehab centre, so if addiction of any kind of an issue, you may find some help there.
It's an important subject. Theres still some swearing. Please do give it a listen and let us know what you think.
