Today on the Alberta Roundup with Rachel Parker, Rachel speaks with Marty Belanger about the Jasper wildfires which burned up to half of the historic village. Marty, who’s been hiking in Jasper for years, said the warning signs have long been ignored and proper forest management practices like controlled burns could have prevented the out of control fires.

Rachel and Marty also discuss which level of government is responsible for managing Jasper, and whether Alberta Premier Danielle Smith reduced the firefighting budget as some reporters have suggested.
