Socialism is all about the economics of socialist society, how it is organized and functions. It is over 900 pages because it addresses all aspects of socialism. It first addresses the original ideas in socialism’s history, including the eras before and after Karl Marx. It also investigates the countries that have adopted socialist or Marxist-Leninist theories – the Soviet Union, the bloc countries, India and China. It reviews the attempt to establish socialist economies in the democratic countries of Western Europe in the century after Marx, down to its ultimate disappearance in the form of a functioning economy. Finally, it investigates socialism in the United States, discussing the reasons why it always failed at the ballot box; Franklin D. Roosevelt introduced a number of socialist policies and those were revisited with the presidency of Barack Obama. One can laud the good intentions of socialists. But this book explains why socialism has never succeeded and why it cannot succeed in the United States.

In 1961 I was living in Berlin when the wall was built! I saw the concrete, the barbed wire, and read of the people shot trying to escape over the barricades.

I went home to the United States to continue my studies, hoping to find out why a country must build a wall to keep its people from fleeing. I took courses in Marxism as an undergraduate, and studied comparative economic systems, then went on for a PhD in economics at Ohio State. I became a Professor at the University of Arizona where I taught economic systems, and international trade and finance. Twenty years later I transferred to the Marriott School at Brigham Young University. Over that forty plus years of my career I always researched socialist systems, spent sabbaticals and research time living in West Berlin, in communist East Berlin (Karlshorst), and in Marburg, Munich, and Duisburg Germany, Vienna, London, and Moscow.

In November of 1989 I attended a conference in West Berlin on German Unification in the 1800s. During the week of the conference, the Politbuero pronounced the Wall open. So I was present at the construction of the wall and almost thirty years later for the opening and the subsequent demise of the Wall.

GETTING RIGHT WITH GOD by Joseph C. Way B.A. B.D. MDiv

It was written primarily for "professing" Judeo-Christians, but it applies to everyone. It challenges the status-quo of many modern-day religious beliefs and practices while offering a logical, factual and specific alternative. Much of the book is controversial. It argues for a human Jesus with no necessity for a crucifixion, no sacrificial death as a blood offering, no ransom, no heaven or hell, and others. The process for getting right and remaining right with God was first discovered by the ancient Hebrews (but they strayed), then proclaimed within Judaism by the major biblical prophet (they strayed) and then by Jesus for his time and thereafter (but they and we have also strayed). From the discovery by the Hebrews to this day, we get right with "God" by loving him above all else and loving our neighbor as our self. To love something is to value it. By nature, we must love (value) something above all else. Whatever that is will be our "god" (by definition) and it will dictate other beliefs and behavior. This is a law we did not make and cannot break. Therefore, it is essential for everyone to know what and how to love appropriately or else we diminish and eventually destroy our self and our planet.

 Author Bio: I was born on a small farm in southern Mississipp, along with six siblings. After graduating from high school with highest honors, I entered Millsaps College from which I earned a B.A. One year later, I entered Vanderbilt Divinity School and earned a B.D. and MDiv. For forty-two years, I was an active minister in the United Methodist Church, with twenty-three as an Air force chaplain, five as a V.A. chaplain and fourteen as the pastor of local churches. In nineteen-sixty-four, due to my efforts to promote integration, I was forced to leave the state to protect and provide for my family and myself. The book is about a young girl Clare who is full of questions about the food she eats. Man of the House: A Memoir

His mother forced him to help her raise her remaining 12 children and demanded that he kill his prized pig to feed her family. McAindriu's childhood was rife with small moments of joy and learning, coupled with working in cottonfields, pain both physical and emotional, and being the Man of the House.

After leaving for Chicago in 1963, Dr. McAindriu went into the military and later obtained two Doctorates. In his research, he is passionately focused on Self-realization as a life-purpose. I am part of a vast ocean of Christians that view the Word of God through a different set of eyes than those of many pastors, professors, and church staff members. I have interest in the deep theology of scripture and recognize my need to be exposed to and covered by the Word of God similar to that of my "called" brothers in Christ. Yet I want it delivered to me in a simple "worker's language." Recent translations have strived toward this end and have made headway. Yet the finished product is still from scholars that often describe the original transcripts from a theological standpoint rather than a worker's standpoint. The Eastern Standard Version (ESV) published in 2001 was written to carefully weigh accuracy against the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek scrolls. It stands as one of the better accepted of sound English Bible Translations. Because of its wide acceptance, I have used this translation for my resource. I have certainly considered a host of opinions and writings of a host of scholars but my source of authenticity has always been God's Word. In writing this book, I strongly encourage our religious leaders to go back to the reading, writing, and arithmetic basics of God's Word. Just as I believe, we need to get back to the basics in educating our children in school in reading, writing, and arithmetic, we also need to get back to the reading, writing, and arithmetic basics in educating God's people in church. Perhaps such consideration is "out of touch" with the advanced theology of today. As a layman, not an ordained or seminary graduate, I might be considered a "doctrine dummy." This book, entitled "Foundations of our Faith" is written for this vast ocean of people. We are not dummy people, but we are somewhat hindered in our study by deep theological doctrine. This book tries to take us back to reading, writing, and arithmetic doctrine.
