DRAGONS IN THE CLOUDS by David Blair

Dragons in the Clouds is an epic adventure that takes place during a time period when Dragons were alive and freely roamed the land. The people during this time were getting eaten by a vicious species of Dragons. The ruling King finally orders the total annihilation of all living dragons.

A powerful wizard, named Merlinius, who is a friend to the king, does not agree with the King's order, for Merlinius knows all Dragons are not what they seem. So he does what he must to protect a family of Dragons that he had befriended. And to protect his Dragon friends, Merlinius performs the spell of weightlessness and tells the Dragons to fly up and to hide in the cover of the Clouds. He then gives the Dragons strict instruction to live within the clouds and to only come down at night to eat.

An apprentice to the wizard who has grandeur of his own has a plan for Dragons that he has hidden deep within a mountain cavern. Now enters a young boy, who had also befriended a dragon, though a very young one, suddenly find themselves caught between the Kings order and a battle that has begun between two species of Dragons. A battle that would determine control of the skies above the Kingdom of Albian.

This Apprentice's plan has consequences that may bring the Kingdom and perhaps the very world we live in today to an devastating end.

Rod Sterling is a big influence on my writing. His television show “The Twilight Zone” captured my imagination. Also, Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, to this day, has a place in my heart. And Dean Koontz’s books are fabulous. Gotta love them. I have also worked on a CGI film named "Dwegons and Leprechauns. A feature length film that went straight to video. One of the best experiences of my life.

This book proposes answers to many other questions that theists have pondered. What happened to the Garden of Eden? Might it still exist? If so, where? How could information of our personal identity be preserved after our physical death? Why will "redeemed" humans need to be resurrected if they are already in heaven? Numerous other concepts are also dealt with, such as the following. In consideration of Heisenberg uncertainty, what maintains order in the universe? Do natural laws determine outcomes, or does the consistency of outcomes determine the laws? What factor determines the decoherence outcome of probability waves so that consistent, orderly eigenstates result? Cannot this factor be recognized as God thereby actualizing his intentions: theistic determinism? Natural law is thus the outcome of God "holding all things together" (Col. 1:17). It is then natural for God to work through natural process.

In this perspective, how is it that new species of organisms originate? Can the process be observed? And what of Adam and Eve as the first sentient humans? In addition to the significance of a message from ancient Babylon, and an account of how what is termed "socionics" relates to the "tragedy of the commons" principle, a near miraculous adventure in Idaho's Lemi Mountains near Sacajawea's birthplace is described and credited to divine providence.

All of this and more thought-provoking issues are presented in this book with the intent of resolving the origins controversy, but also of planting ideas for further consideration in biblical context.

LIVING IN BRAZIL: AS A PEACE CORPS VOLUNTEER AND BUSINESSMAN by H. Lynn Beck

H. Lynn Beck had no clue what to do after finishing his master’s degree in Vermont, so he applied to join the Peace Corps. Eventually, he was invited to work in Brazil, and he agreed to work in education in the state of Mato Grosso. He began counting down the days to the start of training. While his Portuguese consisted of ninety-five percent Spanish and five percent Portuguese, he managed to communicate.

Working in the geographic center of South America, he felt as if he’d been dumped into a pressure cooker as it was so hot and humid. After thirty days in Cuiabá, he took a new position in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Even though it meant moving five hours away with more than a half-million people, it also gave him the chance to stay. Working at the state agricultural extension office, not much was expected of him, but he had an excuse to stay in Brazil for at least another two years, allowing him to learn the language and culture.

Join the author as he travels rural roads, meets large rats and tarantulas, and makes friends while immersing himself in a rich culture.

I was raised on a farm in Nebraska and joined the Peace Corps twice (El Salvador and Brazil) and attended five universities to earn degrees in Agronomy and Adult Education & Economics. I did volunteer work in Nicaragua as a farm manager for a church, I lived ten years in Brazil and three years in Central America. I worked in the U.S. as a farm manager, grain sales, market research and taught statistics at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville for sixteen years. I did short term agricultural work in Moldova, Ukraine, Nicaragua, Mozambique and Angola. Now, I am retired.

THE ISCHERWOOD INCIDENT by William H. Christ, Jr.

Between June and October of 1987, the US Naval Academy operated daily in its mission to train future naval officers.

However, there existed several troubling developments during that time that the navy refuses to acknowledge ever took place.

Some midshipmen used marijuana, the public works office hired some questionable new employees, and some other individuals were suspected of stealing parts from the military. Then other personnel, even an investigator, mysteriously disappeared. Something extremely unusual that was written down in an ancient journal was about to be denied by all.

The Ischerwood Incident will physically pull you below the beautifully landscaped lawns of the academy into a dark, cold, and foreboding subterranean world that few civilians or military personnel even knew existed. This incident involved some men who were authorized to go deep within that maze of ancient brick-vaulted steam tunnels to work on official business, while others went there for unauthorized evil activities.

William H. Christ, Jr. has dedicated himself to being a Visionary. A Vietnam veteran, former radio personality and a graduate from Mount St. Mary's and Eastern Illinois Universities in the 1970's. He worked as a graphic artist for the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis during the 1980's. That led to a successful career as an Art Teacher with the Baltimore City Public Schools. Mr. Christ has continued as an Architectural Consultant, A Fine Art Artist and currently is a Bishop in The New Catholic Church of North America. He had turned to writing military adventure fiction beginning in the 1990's. He has a fondness for imaging all of life's potentials.
