JOURNAL OF A ROAD WARRIOR by Nick Trozzi
The author writes, "The title uses the words "road warrior" to express the competitive battles you have on the concrete roads against other runner training to get to the finish line before you and get the glory of beating you and all challengers. This is like your local weekly Olympic races, and at any skill level you feel like a winner that you completed this event. The stories within show, over the decades, the landscape of running changes in organized races. This pertains to everything from technology, costs, training, and keeping races relevant to current trend changes. This book is written not only for runners, but for everyone. Although the content of the book is primarily based on my running adventures, there are stories about family, life lessons learned, goals achieved, and much more. I was able to see and meet a number of celebrities through my racing career and many of those stories are captured within the book, accompanied by photos".
Published by Page Publishing, Nick Trozzi's new book is an homage to a long and eventful running career and the personal satisfaction achieved in a pure form of friendly competition.
Nick Trozzi, a California-based lifelong competitive and recreational runner, has completed his new book "Journal of a Road Warrior"- a nostalgic look at some of the most memorable events of his more than 2000-race running career. The book tells how an annual family event got him motivated to become a competitive distance runner.
"I learned at an early age that I was very competitive, and I didn't get tired fast like all the neighborhood kids. This is useful as a kid, because whatever the game you're playing I could easily out last everybody. At a young age you don't realize that this is a good fit for a sport, distance running. As I got older I would watch anything to do with long distance running, especially the Olympics every four years.
In grammar school they had the President's Mile and I could tell this was something I should focus on, the other kids were not fast enough and the others didn't care, and I could outrun everyone in school. Junior high school, I would try to run every opportunity I could during PE, as much as I could. I realized if they had the President's Mile at this level, I might get beat. There were more kids, and I didn't know if there were faster runners than myself, that had PE at a different time. High school track and cross country and all comer meets, I did really well. This prepared me for when I got on the roads running. I have ran over 2000 organized races and I have photos of lots of events.
