In this episode, we welcome Thom Rainer to the show. He is an author, church consultant, former pastor, and the Founder and CEO of Church Answers. Church Answers is an online community and resource for church leaders. Prior to founding Church Answers, Rainer served as president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources. Before coming to LifeWay, he served at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for twelve years where he was the founding dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions and Evangelism. He is a 1977 graduate of the University of Alabama and earned his Master of Divinity and Ph.D. degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has written three #1 bestselling books: I Am a Church Member, Autopsy of a Deceased Church, and Simple Church. He’s also the author of a new book entitled I Am a Christian: Discovering What it Means to Follow Jesus Together with Fellow Believers. Additionally, he is the host of the Rainer on Leadership podcast. In this interview, we discuss how he accidentally became a church consultant, what he sees “healthy” churches doing, what churches with strong men do to disciple those men, why churches are being swept up by ungodly cultural revolutions, how we should really view “church hurt”, how to effectively study the bible, how the prevalence of the “seeker sensitive” church model seem to be trending downward, and much more. Let’s get into it…
