"This Week:
Artist Dana Sherwood is interested in the boundaries between the domestic and the wild. She is particularly known for work that involves preparing elaborate meals for animals and documenting the ensuing feasts with hidden motion-sensitive cameras. She's served a picnic to baboons on a beach in South Africa, staged a banquet in her backyard for a family of raccoons, and, most recently, installed a food cart in a botanical garden in Brazil which was frequented by bats, insects and an ocelot. Some of Dana's work in on view now as part of a show called The Ocelots of Foothill Boulevard, on view now at the Pitzer College Art Galleries.

Curator Matthew Abess discusses the new exhibition Margin of Error. The show features art and ephemera that speak to both the wonder and the hazards of the industrial age. The show includes everything from Fascist-era Italian safety posters to photographs and graphic art about the dangers and power of electricity. These laws systematically target abortion providers with onerous, medically unnecessary regulations in an effort to force the clinics to shut down. Just last week the Supreme Court heard oral arguments for Women's Health vs Hellerstedt, a case challenging a TRAP law passed in Texas. The clinic bringing the case is featured in Dawn Porter's film.

This week on the show:
Carl Corey is a photographer based in River Falls, Wisconsin. Lately, he's been traveling the country in his small Winnebago documenting the quirks, contradictions, and moments quiet of beauty he finds in small town America.
In his pictures we see roadside motels, dive bars, and suburban homes with bizarre lawn ornaments. There's a photo of an empty main street at night illuminated by Christmas lights and a painting of Richard Nixon bathed in demonic orange light.
Carl is calling his project "Americaville" and last week I got a chance to chat with him about this ongoing work. We discussed his time walking across Wisconsin, religion in America, and how Mark Twain has influenced his photography.
"Americaville" is on view at Wallspace Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA through March 31st.
