The Pine Hill Mission Food Bank and Outreach Program, based in Pine Hill, has made a significant impact on the lives of low-income and needy families across Wilcox, Marengo, Clarke, Dallas, Bibb, Monroe, Montgomery and Jefferson counties. Through their dedicated efforts, the mission supported numerous families with food assistance and aid during the holiday season, including single parents facing unemployment. During Christmas, the program brought joy to 61 families by providing essential items and gifts. Pine Hill Police Chief Nikisha Gailes received recognition of 240 hours as a Certified Law Enforcement Executive at the chief’s winter conference in Montgomery on Feb. 13. According to Pine Communications, Gailes received a Life Saving Certificate and Medal in 2008, and a Protect and Serve Plaque. Gailes also started several community programs for children.
