Those Few episodes

  • The Redemption of a Drunk | Iron Sharpening Iron | Ep 12

In this interview, we discuss alcoholism, addiction, and freedom with Billy Walther. We address the precursors of his addiction, the damage he experienced, and the freedom he found in Christ. Without making any excuses, we address our sinful nature. But we also explore the truth that God uses messed up people and has done so for thousands of years. Whatever the nature of our specific sins, God can use us to expand and strengthen His Kingdom.

  • Deep & Ongoing Trial | Streams in the Wasteland | Ep 11

In this Streams in the Wasteland episode, we address believers who are going through deep and ongoing suffering. We discuss Lamentations 3:1-33, which records Jeremiah’s acknowledgement of his unavoidable suffering. We learn how to acknowledge God’s sovereignty over our trials without accusing Him of wrongdoing. We see that we can hold onto hope even in our darkest hour. And we address why we have trials and how we can build an attitude of resolve and perseverance.

  • The Way You Should Go | Streams in the Wasteland | Ep 9

Today we address the believer needing instruction, counsel, or guidance from the Lord. Specifically, we discuss this passage: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” (Psalm 32:8). By examining this passage within the context of the entire Psalm, we learn that—within our verbal and nonverbal dialogue with the Lord—we have specific responsibilities which lay the groundwork for His help.
