Those People episodes

  • Vol. 3 Ep. 27 Ryan Knight (@ProudSocialist)

On this "Pod People"  episode of Season Three, Mitch chats with Ryan Knight to talk about his journey from Proud Resister to Proud Socialist over the past 4 years and how his personal journey through the financial industry, addiction and more helped shape his political world view.

Ryan is an outspoken digital and IRL activist who hosts a wonderful show called "Amped Up" where he interviews folks from all over the left to better understand their message, goals and needs including candidates currently running for office.

In his own words, Ryan is one of Those #Proud, #Lefty, #Socialist, #Soccerplayer type People.

We delayed the release of this podcast due to wanting to keep the focus on the Black Lives Matter movement, and Mutual Aid projects we were supporting around the country, however with the general election just around the corner, it seemed like now was the time to get this on the air, and to share this, at times feisty, conversation about bridging the divide between our principles, and the votes we need to earn to get them over the finish line.

  • Vol. 3 Ep. 26 Ihssane Leckey (US House MA-04)

On this episode of Season Three of Those People Mitch chats with Ihssane Lecky (which I mispronounce at least 3 times in this interview, likely the only thing be and Tucker Carlson have in common) to talk about her journey to America from growing up in Morocco, becoming an organizer and a fighter for wall street reform which was passed and then repealed under the Trump administration, and what being a “progressive” in the American sense of the term means to her.

Leckey is running in Massachusetts 4th congressional district, a seat vacated by Joe Kennedy III deciding for no apparent reason to challenge Ed Markey for Mass.’ 2nd Senate seat. This race is the most contested in the state and while there are several perfectly fine candidates in the race, Leckey stood out to me as someone able to identify the core issues facing working class people in the state including corruption, rampant ignorance of sexual violence and more.

She’s also the most No-Bullshit ‘Politician’ I’ve interviewed so far on the show.

In her own words, Melanie is one of Those #Shero, #WallStreetRegulator, #Mother, #Muslim, #Immigrant People -

You can check out her website for more info on all of those and plenty more at: https://ihssane.org/ or follow her on twitter https://twitter.com/ihssaneleckey.

PLEASE become a supporter of this show. You can sign up for $1, $5, $9.99 a month, and while as of right now - You get absolutely nothing extra - in the future when we do more, you'll have early access to perks like exclusive merch, live events and more. • Vol. 3 Ep. 22 Melanie D'Arrigo (US House NY-03)

On Episode two of this season of Those People Mitch chats with Melanie D’Arrigo (which I mispronounce 8 times in this interview) to talk about CoVID’s impact on NYC, growing up in a tough-love family to put it kindly, and the saviors that make up our public education workforce.

Melanie is the 2nd of the NYC progressives we’ll be interviewing this season, representing New York’s 3rd district & we spend a good chunk of the first half discussing the intricacies of growing up in the city, and a good deal of the second half on what she wants to do to make that easier for kids and families of this generation coming of age now.

In her own words, Melanie is one of Those #Feminist, #Activist, #Scientist, #Progressive People - Though admittedly we barely even touched on the scientist thing so check out her website for more info on that and plenty more at: https://www.darrigo2020.com/ or follow her on twitter @DarrigoMelanie.

  • Vol. 3 Ep. 21 Mel Gagarin (US House NY-06)

On Episode two of this season of Those People we sat down with Mel Gargarin (back when we could still do the whole in-person thing) to talk about life in NYC, family, Puerto Rican culture and his plans for the city, and the country, once he takes office.

Mel is the first of the NYC progressives we’ll be interviewing this season, representing New York’s 6th district - better known as Queens, & we get into the fabric of the city, how we got here and where it’s going, and of course what Mel was getting into as an NYC Youth back in the day.

In a word, Mel is self-described as one of Those #progressive People and is out here fighting for all marginalized people and for the working class first and foremost.

Thanks for checking out Volume/Season 3 of Those People! (we’re just gonna call em season from now on, people were confused with Season 1 being 2 volumes)
We’re back with another slate of congressional candidates with the Primaries in New York & Massachusetts just around the corner, we decided to swing back and sit down with 5 other candidates in races in these states, and check in on the state of presidential politics with a couple amazing Bonus Episodes for this season.
In this episode, we’re kicking off season 3 with my a candidate running to represent my very own home district, MA-06! Nathan Mulchay is probably the most interesting person we’ve had on the show to date - which is saying something for a show who’s guests have ranged from national activists & journalists to world renowned artists & illustrators.
Nate is an inventor and science geek extraordinaire. He ran R&D for one of the biggest companies in the world, was a school teacher in the South Bronx, and invented World Stove - a company that fashions stoves for developing world residents to convert their open flames into more efficient heating and cooking sources. He’s a truly one of a kind guy, and I am thankful for him carving out the time to join us, discuss his story, and chat with me about some of the details of his run for congress that’s largely centered around the climate crisis and equity.
Beyond all that Nathan is self described as one of Those #nerd, #papa, #foodie, #scientist, #faithful People.
