  • NSP EP0008: Original Poem: Psalm 7 - 19
In this, the 8th Episode of the North Star Podcast, host Robert Jenkins presents an original poem called, "Psalm 7-19".
    Psalm 7-19-19, 1920
Seems like nothing is as good
    As it used be
    All them old songs
    and all them old scenes
    are now put away
    like childish things
I claim to be a man, yet
    things toy with me
for all that I pretend to be
    more than I am
    all my dreams remain
    just that
yet I pray I never reach
    my potential;
    I wanna be
    forever
    limitless
    Like oceans of grain
    and flags flapping at midnight
    just before the snow
    some pain is sweeter
    than can ever be known
    or expressed
    like how I
    I can feel the absence
    of all those
    who came before me;
    see their
    portraits turning in my
    mind like a
    wheel in the sky
    African, Welsh
    and Kiowa Comanche
    locking arms in my DNA dancing;
pausing briefly, to rest with you a
    while
Oh child, things get no easier.
    It's all on you.
    who you gon' call and
    what you gon' do?
Probably just what I was born
    to:
    Spit, scrap and fight.
    Just because
the stairs ain't made out of crystal
don't mean I'm gon' lie on a silver
    platter and submit to
these vultures and parasites above me
May God Bless and keep everyone I love
and all those who love me.

  • NSP EP0007: Leftist Propaganda, Black Guns, And The Souls Of Black Folk.
It's no surprise that crazy, evil people will use whatever weapons they have at their disposal to commit despicable acts. This has no bearing on the right of free, sane citizens like you and I to own firearms.
Anyone who says our God-given rights should be infringed for something we didn't do is either ignorant, or a straight-up tyrant who has ill-intent. Either way, they are not fit to lead.
Join host Robert Jenkins as he examines the way leftist propaganda is used as a poor excuse to disarm law-abiding citizens.
He also discusses how firearms have been an integral part of the struggle for Black Freedom, and why Black Folks, of all Americans, should be adamant supporters of the the Second Amendment.

  • NSP EP0006 Transgender Issues with Sunshine Jackson
In NSP Episode 0006, I speak with medical professional, independent singer, and my former fraternity brother, Sunshine Jackson. I say former because although I still consider Sunshine a sibling, the term "sister" would be more appropriate.
Sunshine and I met in 1992 while attending an HBCU in Texas. We pledged the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity in 1994 and I've always felt that she was a special person.
Check this episode out. This is not your typical conversation with a transgender individual. Sunshine brings far more depth, consideration, and personality than you typically get in such discussions.
We discuss her experiences at an HBCU, in the professional world, her faith and other items of interest.
You can find Sunshine's singles on iTunes, Spotify, and other streaming services, or at the link below:

  • NSP EP0005 When You Feel Like A Nail
On episode five of the North Star Podcast, I explore the concept of "When You Feel Like a Nail, Everything Looks Like a Hammer". This is a summary of the "woke" far left ideology that has slowly spread from elite college campuses to nearly every corner of our society. I first encountered the phrase on a website called Quillette.com in an article called "Sad Radicals", which is linked below.
I read some excerpts and illustrate the concept with a few real life examples including my experience in the housing market, take-aways from a conference I recently attended, and the mild controversy surrounding how much the members of the women's national soccer team are paid.

  • NSP EP0001: Starting With Why
Why Do I do The North Star Podcast? I do it for love. Love of "me", and as the poet Cee-Lo Green once spat, "Me consists of all my friends and my family, from now on, until I'm gone!". I do it to out of a sense of dissatisfaction with where we are. Out of a strong desire to ensure that I am ever mindful of freedom. Out of a willingness to serve. The North Star Podcast. Principles over Politics, and Freedom in all its Facets.
