Thoughts of a TechnoWizard

Today marks the first day of my job search and my daily visual design challenges. I will be finding points of contact for places I want to work , as well as finding UI inspiration for designing waivers. Exciting! 😜

Morning routines help set the tone for the day. It gives you a sense of agency and empowerment to grasp your life by the horns (or hands or whatever). In this entry, I walk around my neighborhood talking to invisible people from the future about my gratitude journal and the importance of timeboxing.

After having a really great conversation with my coworker, I got to thinking about what it would be like to work with a whole team of smart, passionate people. In this entry, I share some thoughts on the importance of talent and hiring junior level people.

In this audiojournal entry, I nerd out about D&D, the tabletop game, and talk about my experiences crafting my new character: a Warforged Forge Domain Cleric. I also draw some similarities between playing D&D and job searching.

I feel like I need to establish (financial) stability in my life before I can focus on my startups and other side projects. In this entry, I talk about what's been happening in my life and some things that's been on my mind. Please reach out to me if you listen to this regularly!

Virtual and Augmented Reality will change our perception of what is 'real' more radically than the internet did. In this entry, I talk about the importance of realizing this coming shift and what type of reality we can be living in. I think we can use Dungeons and Dragons as a great example of what these new realities can look like because they help us step into new roles and worlds like no other game. However, we need to ensure we maximize for fulfillment rather than profit in this future where the internet will be even more entangled with our everyday lives.

I want to work for and build companies that focus on solving meaningful problems and building great product. In this audiojournal entry, I talk about how companies that focus on (short term) profit are not good places to work.

Chadwick Boseman is with the Ancestors now. His death is a tragic loss for his family, the black community, and entire world. Throughout his life he has consistently sought to embody and highlight the many great black heroes of history. He is and was an inspiration for the world.

I share some .... feelings, that were brought to the fore from this dream I had this morning. Maybe I'm making myself out to be more important in this situation than I really am?

Working at a virtual reality arcade has allowed me to see thousands of people interact with VR for the first time. It has instilled in me an even greater love and passion for this technology. In this episode, I talk about how much I want to help grow this industry so that the whole world can enjoy the future in as conscientious and positive a way as possible. I want to scale and maintain the joy, wonder, and magical delight people experience with virtual reality as the tech grows and becomes mainstream.
