Thrashpie Radio

The Thrashpie Radio podcasts which have served to document the history of the

Pure Rock era at KNAC-FM have had occasion to present interviews with many of

the players at Southern California's heavy metal flagship except one:  The host

himself. Morning Man at KNAC for roughly 7 years during two separate  eras, hear

Thrashpie "Your favorite guy" in his own words guided by the interviewing skills

of LARadioStudio's Mike Stark in this Thrashpie Radio podcast.

There can be no conversation about Pure Rock KNAC-FM without mentioning one name:

Tawn Mastery.  It's hard to believe she is no longer with us, never-the-less

her spirit lives on.  Get an inside the KNAC "family" look at our beloved

Leather Nun in this Thrashpie Radio podcast.

Part two of the KNAC Graduates special edition Thrashpie Radio

Podcasts.  Jack McKissock - Jack Trash - fills us in on his successful TV

project - Power Chord - and sheds light on the music he's discovered along the

way.

A special edition Thrashpie Podcast:  the KNAC graduates.  Jack McKissock -

Jack Trash - makes an in-studio visit to talk about his life after KNAC.

During the last weeks of Pure Rock KNAC-FM's existence, the on-air staff was

forbidden to mention the ultimate fate of Southern California's heavy metal

flagship, KNAC-FM.  This air check from the "Thrasher in the Morning" program

hinted strongly - without saying so directly - just what the audience was in for in the coming

days.

The women of Pure Rock deserve special mention.  In this Thrashpie Radio

Podcast, we hear the interview from first time program director Pam Edwards

during her visit to KNAC's 30th anniversary celebration.

"Our radio station had more than listeners, we had fans and they loved

us" speaks General Manager Gary Price in this Thrashpie Radio Podcast.

The real story behind the world famous KNAC bumper sticker as well as a

heretofor unknown international rip-off

of Southern California's Pure Rock radio station is here for the

listening.

KNAC-FM General Manager Gary Price talks about the moneyman behind the

madness that enabled the creation of Southern California's Heavy Metal

flagship radio station:  investor/owner Fred Sands.  Gary Price looks

back as entrepreneur, manager and mentor to

the Pure Rock years  at KNAC in this Thrashpie Radio Podcast.

Rumors abound as to the real reason for Pure Rock KNAC's demise:  Wild stories like "The FCC shut it down" to local Rap artists bought it and "closed the doors" still circulate.  The reality is not quite so fantastical.  Bryan Schock was leader and "team captain" during The End of Days at KNAC.  You can hear the story in this Thrashpie Radio podcast.

There is no question that the reason for KNAC-FM's Pure Rock existence was due to the unwavering loyalty and love from its audience.  Program Director Bryan Schock  recognizes that truth in this Thrashpie Radio podcast with a couple of fun radio "stories" thrown in for good measure.  Enjoy!
