  • My interview with Dr. Barbara D’Amato

I interviewed Dr. Barbara D’Amato. B. D’Amato is a psychoanalyst in private practice in NYC. She has written numerous professional papers analyzing the psychic conflicts of literary characters and their authors, i.e., Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, R L Stevenson’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot. Her most recent publication considers the lyrics in Bob Dylan’s “Murder Most Foul” from a hypnogogic perspective. Triskele is her first work of fiction.

Dr. D'Amato stated "As a practicing and teaching psychoanalyst, of 30-plus years, I believe I come from a long background that queries and works with the human experience. People come to therapy to better understand themselves so they can figure out why they are unhappy or unable to change behaviors that do not serve them. I have been intrigued by the ways in which individuals often continue with behaviors that result in the exact opposite of what they say they want. The reason for this can be simple. People don’t often know why they do what they do. Early conflicts and trauma can determine the course of one’s lifetime if left unexamined. As a psychoanalyst, I have been able to participate in this process which I find rewarding and beneficial to others when it is the right fit. I also enjoy writing and have published over a dozen professional papers concerned with the motivations that invisibly propel our everyday behaviors".

Her book teases apart the real reasons why we repeat counterproductive life choices. Triskele, her novel portrays such conflicts and the working through processes that can occur, in three troubled individuals. Understanding how therapy actually works, through a fictional story that grips the reader.

  • My interview with Don St John,Ph.D

I interviewed Don St John, Ph.D. Very early on in his educational career, Dr. St John realized that the “box” of traditional clinical psychology and psychiatry was too small to hold all the tools and concepts needed for his healing. He’s forever grateful he searched outside that box. Over time, he encountered not just tools and techniques, but different schools of thought, both novel and derived from wide-ranging sources. Decades of exploration led him to construct a view of healing, purpose, and human potential that includes four essential and interrelated components: the Somatic (Body), the Psycho-Emotional, the Relational, and the Spiritual.

    1. The Somatic. Our bodies are feeling, sensing, and moving structures. Our culture emphasizes appearance, endurance, strength, and of course freedom from symptoms. They are important! Yet, our very sense of ourselves, who we take ourselves to be, and our sense of well-being, depend on the connectivity, the consciousness of our bodies. Our bodies are also architectural marvels, and as such, require optimal alignment for optimal functioning.

    2. The Psycho-Emotional. We form core beliefs about our worth and potential early and throughout our upbrings that for better or worse, define how we see ourselves and interact with the world. Becoming ready to embody our best selves requires revisiting our fundamental assumptions; stepping into our best selves requires identifying and redesigning our core beliefs. It is also important that we cultivate positivity in our hearts and minds.

    3. The Relational. Human beings are fundamentally social, and forming close bonds is not just important—it’s essential. Our ability to share emotional intimacy is hampered by the traumas and wounds we inevitably receive along our journey. Dr. St John believes that relational starvation is at the root of most cases of addiction, depression, relational distress, and more.

    4. The Spiritual. The drive to wonder at and experience the universe’s greater order is part of the human fabric. From time immemorial we have asked questions such as: Is there life after death? How are we related to each other and to the entire web of life? Is there a force, an intelligence superior to my personal agency and if so, how do we relate to that force? In his own journey, psychedelic spiritual medicine has enhanced his openness to spiritual exploration and discovery.

As a psychotherapist, teacher, author, and Mestre (teacher in a Christian-Ayahuasca church), Dr. St John has been immersed in the psychological, somatic, relational, and spiritual worlds for more than fifty years. As a child, he endured years of intense physical and verbal abuse in his Italian-American Catholic home. He entered adulthood in a physically hyper-tense body, emotionally frozen, relationally retarded, and spiritually void. This healing adventure of fifty-plus years has resulted in a fulfilling marriage (38 years) to his life partner, the enjoyment of being in his body, trust in his own abilities and instincts, the trust given him by others to guide their journeys, a love for life, and wonderment at a higher power.

  • My interview with Ian Clark

I interviewed Ian Clark. At 46, I was bankrupt and given 1000 days left to live. 5 years later, I survived and built a raw supplement business direct to consumers in my basement which reached 100’s of thousands of people in 2 years. I hope to share this wild story of how it happened, what the business did, and how. I used it to escape early death and how others can learn how to manage and heal their own body. My name is Ian Clark and I am the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Activation Products (Can) Inc. has built a solid reputation for valuable research in the natural health space developing the most effective protocols and products that support natural healing. Now at the age of 65, my health and energy levels are better than when I was 25

years old but this was not the case in 2004. At the age of forty-six, two significant life-threatening health issues hit me in the same year! It was during 2004-2007 that as a husband and father of seven children sought out the most effective health products for natural healing to avoid medical operations and drugs. In 2007, Activation Products was founded with his wife and seven children. Over the last 16 years, I have enjoyed a wonderful health transformation for myself, my family, and literally hundreds of thousands of Activation clients internationally, and more need to know how to heal their own bodies.

  • My interview with Alison Smith

I interviewed Alison Smith. Alison is a passionate and enthusiastic speaker, coach, podcaster, and author and can often be found using nature as a metaphor for our lives, helping us to get back on track.

Alison has always had a passion and enthusiasm for patterns and using them to solve problems. Even her thesis at university over 37 years ago involved looking at patterns; patterns of behavior that lead to certain outcomes.

It’s no surprise, therefore, that after 15 years in Procurement in organizations, Alison decided in 2000 that she wanted to expand that pattern of observation, exploration, and problem-solving to help others solve their problems in life and to help them get back on track.

This isn’t achieved by diving into the detail of the situation (i.e. it’s not about turning over every stone) but by stepping back and looking at the patterns.

It was a chance conversation that took the pattern observation to a new level and ultimately led to what we know today as the Landscaping Your Life LANDSCAPE toolkit.

  • My interview with Elizabeth Mikotowicz

I interviewed Elizabeth Mikotowicz. In her 20's she barely survived a very violent relationship, he assaulted her with a wooden dowel and you could see her skull when it happened. The Drs gave her opioids, and when she refused they threatened her with child protective services because she was pregnant and refusing medical advice. She Was told she was on too small a dose to get addicted. Eventually, she went to the DV shelter and was turned away, they said her injury was too severe and it put the other women in danger. She survived because drug dealers helped her - or took advantage depending on how you look at it. She eventually went to federal prison for a nonviolent drug charge. She endured and witnessed so much institutional abuse, corruption, systemic racism, and cruelty; sometimes she still wakes up screaming. But! She's turned it all around, launched an environmentally friendly feminine brand that's being sold in stores, and also comes in plus sizes. She has gotten bills put on the table and passed for the good of the people- not corporations and institutions. She is letting the world know what America's "land of the free" is doing to its incarcerated population which is the highest rate in the world. She is also exposing other systemic abuse and corruption that affects Americans every day. She is sharing her healing journey and what she has learned about her own trauma and mental health.
