Hey everyone, Kurtis here. All of us are taking this week off, so we’re sharing an episode from the archives in memory of our former co-host, Nick Murtha, who has sadly passed away.

This episode features the old lineup Phil, Nick, and Kurt, and we wanted to revisit some of the laughs and good times we shared with Nick. We’re grateful that we have these recordings to remember him by, and to share his voice with you again.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Nick’s family, friends, and everyone who knew and loved him.

Nick, thank you for the conversations, the laughs, and the memories. You’ll be missed.

On this episode, the Tremble crew takes on Train to Busan, the 2016 South Korean zombie thriller directed by Yeon Sang ho. When a zombie outbreak erupts across South Korea, a group of passengers aboard a high speed train from Seoul to Busan must fight to survive as the infection rapidly spreads through the train. The crew discusses the film’s frantic action sequences, creative zombie movement, claustrophobic setting, and surprisingly emotional character work. They also examine the movie’s themes surrounding selfishness, sacrifice, class and human behaviour during a disaster, as well as the performances that help elevate Train to Busan beyond a conventional zombie thriller. The discussion looks at why the film became such an international success and why it remains one of the defining modern entries in the zombie genre.

Tremble is a horror podcast that cuts through hype to figure out what actually works, whether a movie is trying to scare you, make you laugh, or do both at once.

On this episode, the Tremble crew takes on Pontypool, the 2008 Canadian horror film directed by Bruce McDonald. Set almost entirely inside a small radio station during a rapidly escalating outbreak, the film follows radio host Grant Mazzy and his colleagues as they attempt to understand a mysterious infection spreading through the community. The catch is that the infection isn’t transmitted through a conventional bite or bodily fluid; it is connected to language itself. The crew digs into Pontypool’s unusual approach to the zombie genre, its reliance on sound and imagination, the claustrophobic setting, and Stephen McHattie’s central performance. They also discuss what makes the film’s strange premise work and why Pontypool remains such a distinctive piece of Canadian horror.
